Plot[]
Part One: Elaine confides in Tim that she's convinced Geoff has been spying on her in the hospital, even though he doesn't know where to find her. Saying how much he hates his dad, Tim promises to keep her safe. Geoff plays to the jury, saying how sorry he is that he hurt Yasmeen by using escorts and them telling them how she lunged at him with the broken bottle in a vicious and unprovoked attack. Clearly enjoying Shona's company, Simon offers to make her a playlist. Before he says goodbye, Tim implores Elaine to reconsider as she's Yasmeen's only real hope. Adam advises Abi, David and Sarah that Ray will probably get his planning permission. They realise they don't know Gary's intentions regarding the factory. Imran cross-examines Geoff about his use of escorts. He's also forced to admit that his first wife may not be dead after all and Elaine might well be Tim's mother. Gary receives a deputation and tells them that he's already sold the factory to Ray, even though it's putting people out of work. David realises the part he played in persuading him to sell No.8. The first day in court over, Elaine agrees to come in to give evidence. Geoff gains access to the psychiatric wing and a terrified Elaine's room.
Part Two: Elaine realises she has seen Geoff watching her as she cowers away from him in tears. He taunts her about being seen as an absent useless mother in the eyes of the jury as she breaks down in hysterical tears. Audrey breaks the news to David and Sarah that she's sold the salon flat to Ray while Claudia and Maria have similarly sold the salon itself. Nick promises Leanne she won't be on her own tomorrow but she's unresponsive to his overtures. Simon spends more time with Shona. Roy points out to the neighbours that Ray doesn't own all the properties yet. Elaine rings Tim and tells him that she can't go through the ordeal of being a witness. He and Sally wonder what could have changed her mind.
