Plot[]
Part One: Feeling uneasy, Carla makes her excuses and leaves, telling Adam that Sarah will come to her senses eventually. Abi confronts Peter in the Rovers' back yard and reveals how Barry let slip that he's been on the whisky. Peter assures her it was a one-off and refuses to discuss it any further. Todd speaks up for Paul, telling Sarah he was tired because of the counselling helpline work. She feels awful and confides her problems about Adam with Todd. Abi intercepts Carla on her return and tells her how much Peter is struggling. Sarah offers Paul his job back and he's surprised when she reveals that he's got Todd to thank for sticking up for him. Faye shares her good news with Tim and Sally. Craig is uneasy when Tim sings Ray's praises. Sally tells Craig that her contacts at the council denied any knowledge of local building developments, but she thought they were cagy about the matter. Carla pushes Peter to tell her what Abi was worried about. He admits he had a drink.
Part Two: Peter insists that having a sip from a hip flask is different to what happened to him before. He dismisses her concerns and makes out that she is exacerbating the issue, refusing to go to another AA meeting with her. She makes him admit he's had another drink today and is deluding himself. Paul thanks Todd. When Paul reveals that Billy's working late, Todd invites himself and Sean round to the flat for a chippy tea. Carla accuses Peter of not caring enough for anyone to look after himself. He tells her that she loves him being at rock bottom as it makes her forget how unstable she is herself and that he no longer needs her. She walks out. Todd plies Paul with drink and stirs things over the loss of the archbishop's house. Craig calls on Ray, demanding to know why he gave Faye the job. Ray threatens him, telling him that if he talks about his plans, he'll make sure he loses his job in the police force and Faye will no longer be trainee manager. Todd hints that Billy is ashamed of Paul's family. He spots an unseen message from Billy that he's on his way back and sets up a game of truth or dare, getting Paul to dress in Billy's vicar robes. Billy walks in, unamused at the sight. A furious Carla goes back to the hotel to spend the night in the booked room and finds Adam still in the bar. A drunk Paul accuses Billy of being ashamed of him and is not persuaded by his assurances. Carla takes Adam into her hotel room.
