Plot

It’s the day of Yasmeen’s trial and she suffers a nightmare in which she has been found guilty, incarcerated, and every officer in the prison is Geoff. Adam riles Gary about cashing in on people’s problems in the pandemic. Ed worries that Aggie is working far too hard at the hospital and decides to plan something nice for her. Gary is perturbed to discover that Brian has read in the Gazette about a discovery of Roman coins in Beacon Woods and is planning to take his metal detector down there to see what he can find. Desperate to reduce the chances of Rick’s body being found, Gary suggests that everyone will be searching that site and he ought to try somewhere different. Tim dreads being in the witness box in court, being questioned by Paula. Sally doesn’t talk to Geoff when he calls to collect Tim. Geoff worries that a surprise witness will appear. Bernie tells Brian she saw Gary driving off with a shovel in his van and surmises he’s trying to beat him to any treasure. They join forces to search themselves. Imran collects Yasmeen to take her to court. She tells him about Elaine Jones but suffers a sudden collapse. Back on the street, Elaine herself watches from a distance as Tim and Geoff set off for court. She upsets Ryan’s bucket of water as he cleans the Rovers’ windows and runs off. Alya runs up in a panic, saying her gran is in hospital. Sarah catches Adam and Laura flirting in the solicitor’s office. A furious Laura tells Sarah her husband is a cheat and leaves. Sarah demands an answer from him and hears who she is and that Adam is using her. She’s angry when Adam puts forward his theory that Gary is a murderer. Tim and Geoff return with the trial adjourned due to Yasmeen’s collapse. Geoff rails that his wife’s putting it on, much to Sally’s disgust. Yasmeen is diagnosed with a heart attack. Brian and Bernie return from the woods, having encountered an angry Gary there. He follows them back and smashes up Brian’s detector in a furious fit as an astonished Sarah looks on. He apologises for losing his cool. Entering No.5, a smug Bernie looks with pleasure at an expensive watch she has found in the woods and pocketed. On the back, it is inscribed “To Rick From Laura XXX”.

In addition, several references were made in dialogue to the pandemic and its effects while, within the production, the distancing rules were rigorously observed by both cast and production crew when making the episode, even when they were playing family members or people who shared residences.
