Plot[]
Part One: Steve is thinking of sending Oliver to a private nursery to give him the best start in life. Sally admits to Gail that Yasmeen's behaviour has surprised her. Gail celebrates her birthday and invites Sally to come round for a short celebration later on, but she has to attend Yasmeen's bail hearing with Tim. Alya has been awake all night investigating cases online similar to her gran's but Imran advises her to leave matters to him. Steve has made an appointment at lunchtime for him and Leanne at the Stemmington Nursery but he is tired after being up until the small hours drinking with Tim. Gail invites Sarah and David to join her for her birthday tea but David, after walking the streets all night, isn't interested in the event. Steve falls asleep on the sofa while looking after Oliver. In The Kabin, David listens with interest as Craig and Bernie discuss the drug gangs' turf wars taking place on the notorious Hylda Baker Estate. Eileen can't bring herself to tell Tim what she witnessed when he praises Geoff and makes his dad out to be a gentle victim. A late Steve rushes into Street Cars for a taxi to take him to the nursery and is told that Oliver has penned a moustache on his face with indelible ink. Tim and Eileen begin to cover it with make-up.
Part Two: Alya comes into the cafe with Ryan and a furious shouting match ensues between her and Tim who is there with Sally and Faye. As the accusations fly, Roy has to step in and threaten to evict both of them before it gets out of hand, much to Alya and Tim's annoyance. Eileen witnesses the altercation and realises she can't bring herself to tell Tim of her concerns about Geoff. Steve turns up late for the nursery with his make-up covering the ink. Audrey knocks back the wine as Gail prepares her party and find excuses not to help her. Sally and Nick text to say they can't make the event. Cathy complains to Dev about Bernie's lax attitude in the kebab shop and threatens to leave. He raises her wages by 50p an hour to compensate her. The judge refuses Yasmeen bail and she is remanded until her trial. Tim is exultant while Sally is full of doubts. Back at the flat, Leanne finds Oliver having another fit. Sarah can't stay with Gail for her birthday as the children are playing up with Adam on a trip to the cinema. Gail and Audrey celebrate by themselves. The paramedics come to attend to Oliver as a worried Steve and Leanne watch on.

- This episode was produced with the intention of it being transmitted as the first half of an hour-long episode on Friday 17th April at 7.30pm.
- Due to time constraints before the MediaCity studios were locked down, the end credits for this episode were not remade but instead used that originally intended for both this and the next episode. This means that the following were credited but did not appear: Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw), Doctor (Kaya Brady), Sean Tully (Antony Cotton), Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Simon Barlow (Alex Bain), Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), Dr Ward (Zita Sattar) and Joe (David Chafer).
- For the same reason, stunt co-ordinator Glenn Marks and stunt double Luke Gomes were credited for work featured in the next episode.
- A postman who delivers Gail Rodwell's birthday cards and two paramedics who attend to Oliver Battersby are uncredited although they have lines of dialogue.
- Audrey Roberts mentions the surprise 50th birthday party she laid on for Gail, being reminded she was only 49 at the time, and referencing events in Episode 6539 (22nd April 2007).
- TV Times synopsis: Steve and Leanne view a nursery school for Oliver, and Gail tells Sarah and David she expects them at her soirée at Number 8.
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast: 7,561,296 viewers (3rd place).
