The Enquiry Officer manned the front desk at Weatherfield Police Station and dealt with several residents of Coronation Street.
The first was Daniel Osbourne in November 2019. He had lost his wife, Sinead, to cancer the month before and was having difficulties coping with his loss. When his laptop containing videos of his wife was stolen from his flat, he called into the station, shouting at the officer that no one had contacted him as promised despite the details being handed over the day before. Craig Tinker was on duty and interceded, calming Daniel down. A few days later, Bernie Winter handed the item to the officer at the station having recovered it by illicit means from her ex, Kel Hinchley, also making a historic sexual abuse allegation about Kel once she had seen evidence that her own son Paul Foreman was his victim.
In January 2021, Faye Windass handed herself over to the officer at the station for assaulting Adam Barlow in the mistaken belief that he was Ray Crosby, who had attempted to rape her. She was taken in for questioning by DS Willets where she reported the rape. Once he had heard what was going on, her frantic father Tim Metcalfe went to the station where he demanded to act as chaperone for his daughter but was told by the officer that as she was eighteen, she was no longer covered by that legal requirement.
In March 2022, the officer was manning the front desk when Kelly Neelan had burst in, demanding to know the whereabouts of her mother Laura, who had been arrested for the murder of her father, Rick, three years previously. The true culprit was Kelly's foster father Gary Windass, who had been defending himself when Rick had threatened to hurt his then girlfriend Sarah Platt and her family for unpaid debts. Laura had discovered Gary's involvement after she had been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer and took it upon herself to confess to the murder, thus letting Gary off the hook as he and Maria Connor were providing Kelly with a more stable home than she and Rick had ever been able to. Knowing little of this, the girl went to the station demanding to know what was happening and quoting her mythical rights to be told what was happening. The officer told her that he was unable to supply her with any information, and advised her to calm down, go home and wait for further news there.
