Emma Gilmour was born in Knutsford, Cheshire. As a very young child, Emma had always had a passion for music and performing but lacked confidence until, aged seventeen, as a pupil at Knutsford High School she was given the part of "Rizzo" in the school production of Grease. After three years of training at the North Cheshire Theatre College, Emma landed her first acting job in 1998 in Sky One's Dream Team.
She has since made guest appearances in Hollyoaks, Footballers' Wives, Doctors, Mile High and Ricky Gervais's Extras as well as appearing in the film The Parole Officer with Steve Coogan. Emma also turns her hand to pantomime, modelling work, TV commercials and photographic campaigns.
In Coronation Street she has played two minor roles: a Blonde in November 2006 with whom Charlie Stubbs attempted to make girlfriend Tracy Barlow jealous; and a Driver in August 2008 who was instrumental in a plot masterminded by Tony Gordon and his allies to sabotage Websters' Auto Centre.
