Elizabeth Rider (born 1958 in Newark, Nottinghamshire) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly between August and October 1999 as Kathleen Gutteridge, biological mother of Ashley Peacock; and she returned to the programme in April 2006 as Genna, a social worker who was involved in Les Battersby-Brown's case of adopting stepson Chesney.
She trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and after winning the Carleton Hobbs Bursary, she joined the Radio Drama Company.
Her other television credits include roles in Testament of Youth, Hard Cases, Civvies, The Bill, Peak Practice, Casualty, Pond Life, The Lakes, Heartbeat, At Home with the Braithwaites, Holby City, Cold Feet, A Thing Called Love, EastEnders, Doctor Who, Emmerdale, Waking the Dead, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Call the Midwife, Lewis, The Casual Vacancy, Informer, Line of Duty, Shadow and Bone, Showtrial and Sister Boniface Mysteries.
Film roles include Breakout, Sacred Hearts, Brothers of the Head, Letters From Baghdad and True Things.
On stage, she appeared in All's Well That Ends Well, Henry IV, A Doll's House, The Twin Rivals, The Witch of Edmonton, All You Deserve and The Adventures of Butch Strong for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include Simplicity, Space, Hamlet, The Village Fete and Wildest Dreams.
