Elisabeth Sladen (born 1st February 1946 in Liverpool, died 19th April 2011 in Southall, London) appeared on Coronation Street in January 1970 as Anita Reynolds, a young barmaid at The Flying Horse.

This was an early role for the actress, and she gained national fame in 1973 when she was cast as Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who. She reprised the role of Sarah Jane in 2006 and took the character into her own programme The Sarah Jane Adventures. Her other credits included roles in Z Cars, Take My Wife..., Gulliver in Lilliput, Alice in Wonderland and Peak Practice.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Mother Courage and her Children, Spring and Port Wine, How the Other Half Loves, The Philanthropist, Pretty Boy, Mooney and His Caravans and 'Comic Cuts.

She was married to actor Brian Miller from 1968 until her death, who himself appeared on Coronation Street in three roles.
