Edward James de Souza (born 4th September 1932 in Hull) appeared on Coronation Street between December 2008 and May 2009 as Colin Grimshaw, father of Eileen and her half-sister, Julie Carp.

He graduated from RADA in 1957.

His other numerous television credits include roles in A Tale of Two Cities, The Marriage Lines, The Avengers, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Mill on the Floss, The Rat Catchers, The Troubleshooters, Cousin Bette, Jane Eyre, Napoleon and Love, Edward the Seventh, Life and Death of Penelope, Rumpole of the Bailey, Bognor, Sapphire & Steel, After the War, After Henry, Doctors and The Borgias.

Film roles include The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, The Fourth Square, The Phantom of the Opera, The Kiss of the Vampire, The Main Chance, Jules Verne's Rocket to the Moon, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Thirty Nine Steps, On a Paving Stone Mounted, Home Before Midnight, The Golden Lady, The Return of the Soldier, The Golden Compass, Grave Tales and Mr. Turner.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, Pericles, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, All's Well That Ends Well, Coriolanus, King Lear, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Troilus and Cressida for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
