Edward Clayton (born 9th October 1940 in Shelfield, Staffordshire) appeared in two roles in Coronation Street: firstly as a Coach Driver taking the pensioners to the Bury Fusiliers' Museum in April 1969; and he returned to the programme in the more substantial role of garage owner Tom Casey, father of Mark Casey, appearing intermittently between March 1989 and October 1990.

He is best known for playing the part of Stan Harvey, Meg Richardson's son-in-law in Crossroads between 1972 and 1978 but has amassed a long series of other credits including Z Cars, Softly Softly, Eh Brian! It's a Whopper, The Bill, A Sort of Innocence, Brookside, G.B.H., Wycliffe, Midsomer Murders, Silent Witness and Arthur & George.

Film roles include Paris by Night and The Misadventures of Mr. Wilt.

On stage, he has worked for both the RSC and the National Theatre in productions such as Mother Courage and Enemy of the People. Radio work includes Saturday-Night Theatre and The Two First Nights of The Seagull for Radio 3.
