Dr Wilson diagnosed Sarah Louise Platt in February 2000, after she lost her appetite and refused to eat proper meals. After several weeks of confrontation, arguments and worry, Sarah's mother, Gail Platt, caught her throwing up in the bathroom, and so took her daughter to the doctors to get to the bottom of her eating habits. When Sarah confessed to feeling faint on several occasions, Dr Wilson examined the thirteen-year old and informed her horrified mother that Sarah was five months pregnant. She also confirmed that she was too far into her term to have an abortion and that Social Services would have to be informed. She then offered any support that Sarah and Gail may need.
