Dr Khan was one of the team who looked after Nick Tilsley when he was hospitalised in Weatherfield General after a car crash in August 2013. He spent some six weeks in a coma but when he came round his family were concerned that he wasn't reacting to them. Dr Khan told them he was drifting in and out of sleep but it was a positive development and that they should talk to him when they were with him.
When Nick himself started to talk, he warned them that his conversation would be confused but they were hopeful that he would regain his memory. All were pleased at this news, except for David Platt who had been the cause of the crash and had reason to hope that Nick wouldn't regain all of his memory.
