Doreen Fenwick was the old showbiz friend of Rita Sullivan and appeared in 2007.

Biography

She was first seen in February 2007 as an old friend of long time resident Rita Sullivan. This is Barbara Young, who plays Doreen's second role in the soap; she had appeared in 1981 as Dot Stockwell. Doreen arrived as an old showbiz friend of Rita Sullivan. Waiting for Rita to arrive, she flirted with all the male customers in The Kabin, which annoyed Rita's business partner Norris Cole, whom Doreen was initially disliked by, having insulted upon first meeting him, but the tables soon turned.

Early Days

Shortly after arriving, Doreen persuaded Rita several times to meet up with her, and they went to see things such as shows together.

Relationship with Norris Cole

Despite the previous conflicts between Norris and Doreen, she soon became a sparring partner for Norris, but their relationship soon developed into a romance. Shortly afterwards Rita let Doreen stay with her as Doreen told her that her flat was being repaired. On 18th May however, Rita discovered that Doreen was faking her flat being repaired and removed of asbestos. Rita then told Doreen to pack her bags and leave. On 28th May Rita confessed to Norris that she was missing Doreen's company but refused to make the first move or let her move back. Norris secretly arranged to meet Doreen and persuaded her to make up with Rita. The pair of friends made up over a drink in the Rovers Return.

Doreen has been known to help out in The Kabin on occasions such as when Rita was on holiday.

Doreen is also good friends with Emily Bishop, Ken Barlow and Blanche Hunt.

Marriage proposals

In November that year, Norris proposed to Rita, after she had declined Norris' offer of marriage, Norris went on to propose to Doreen, unaware that both George Trench and Ivor Priestley, two other husbands of Norris' deceased ex wife, Angela Hawthorne, had already proposed to her, she told them that she would consider on all their offers and on 2nd December 2007 Norris told her that he was declining his proposals, Doreen also said she didn't want to get married at all anyway.

Widowhood

Doreen has had two husbands, her last one had died from cancer. Although Doreen never made any official departures, she disappeared and made her last on-screen appearance on December 2nd 2007.
