Donna Alexander (born 16th April 1965 in Manchester) appeared on Coronation Street between March and April 2005 as DS Kristen Smith, investigating the death of Tommy Harris.
Born of a Jamaican mother and part Norwegian/part Welsh father, she gained qualifications as a secretary after leaving school and then worked in various jobs including a barmaid and a placement officer. After a period living in Jamaica, she returned to the UK determined to become an actress and joined the Arden School of Theatre.
Best known for her role as Penny Hutchens in Casualty from 1997 to 2001, her other credits include roles in Backup, The Bill, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Rockface, Clocking Off, Doctors, The Ghost Squad, Eleventh Hour and Inside Men, along with the 2005 film Things to Do Before You're 30.
On stage, she appeared in productions of All's Well That Ends Well and The Love of a Nightingale.
