The Doctor was on duty at Weatherfield General in April 2005 where Katy Harris was on a life-support machine in a diabetic coma after attempting suicide, unable to cope with the guilt of having murdered her own father in a fit of rage. As the alarms went off, the doctor and his team rushed into her room and attempted to resuscitate her, but to no avail. As he left the room, he patted crying nurse Martin Platt on the shoulder as a comfort as he had been in a relationship with the girl for some months before her family drove them apart, disapproving of the age gap between them.
