The Doctor called on Ena Sharples in October 1963 when she collapsed with delayed shock after seeing the state of her beloved vestry, wrecked and vandalised while she was out at the wedding of Jerry and Myra Booth. He wrote out a prescription for her which Emily Nugent went to collect from the chemists on Rosamund Street while the doctor told Leonard Swindley that he'd diagnosed arteriosclerosis, and advised her that she should rest, admitting that it wasn't the easiest thing to persuade a patient such as her to do!
