Diana Bishop appeared in Coronation Street in January 1986 as social worker Mrs Anderton.

She trained at RADA and also appeared in The Wednesday Play, Z Cars, Softly Softly: Task Force, Play for Today, Rosie, Solo, Potter, Juliet Bravo, London's Burning, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates and Casualty.

For a year, she was a regular on the BBC radio soap The Dales and she has also been heard in The Girls of Slender Means, Afternoon Theatre, The Days of The Commune, many productions of Midweek Theatre, Afternoon Theatre, Thirty-Minute Theatre and Saturday-Night Theatre, The Barchester Chronicles, Dear and Honoured Lady, Tales from Landshut, David Copperfield, Dad's Army, Escape from England, Sword of Honour, Waggoners' Walk NW, All Saints' Day 1914, A Book at Bedtime, The Pickwick Papers, Little Dorrit, The Nine Tailors, Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Lord of the Rings, Cold Comfort Farm, Outside the Jeweller's, A Woman In Search of Herself and readings for A Book at Bedtime and Poetry Please!

On stage, her early years included repertory theatre, two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and tours with the British Council and the Arts Council.
