Role in Coronation Street[]
Jack and Annie Walker's daughter, Joan, moved to Derby after marrying Gordon Davies in March 1961. Nine years later, in June 1970, Jack died unexpectedly during one of his visits to Derby and in the 14 years that followed, Annie made many trips to stay with Joan. In May 1978 Joan tried to persuade Anne to retire from the Rovers and live with them but Annie declined. Six years later, in August 1984, Annie took Joan's advice, retired from the Rovers, and moved to Derby permanently, never to return to Weatherfield.
In March 1997, Liz McDonald caught an overnight bus to Derby to escape the clutches of gangster Gerry Turner when he blamed her for alerting the police to a robbery that he and his boss Fraser Henderson were carrying out a robbery at a warehouse near Manchester Airport.
