Denzil "Denny" Foreman was the estranged partner of Bernie Winter and father to her twins Paul and Gemma.
The twins were born in August 1990 but Denny soon showed himself to be an unfit father when he walked out on them in 1992 following his split from Bernie. Despite this, Paul chose to move in with his father in 2005, during which time he took his surname, when he escaped from the sexual abuse he was receiving at home from his mother's boyfriend, Kel Hinchley.
In April 2024, Denny discovered that Paul was suffering from MND when he tuned into his interview on Radio Weatherfield. He decided to reach out to Bernie about regaining contact with Paul, but she falsely claimed that the radio interview had been a repeat and Paul had already passed away. Denny saw through Bernie's ruse and followed her to Paul's flat which he shared with husband, Billy Mayhew. Bernie and Gemma tried to get Denny to leave, but Paul decided that he wanted to make amends with his father before his death and invited him to stay. Denny proved to be a bad influence and rubbed Billy up the wrong way after getting Paul drunk on shots at the Rovers. Following the incident, Bernie attempted to encourage Billy to prevent Denny from having any contact with Paul. Secretly, she had an ulterior motive not to let Denny back into the twins' lives as Denny was aware that she had given birth to another child in 1993 who she gave up for adoption. Denny used this knowledge to his advantage and threatened Bernie to stop trying to prevent him from reconnecting with Paul.
Some days later, Denny offered to look after Paul but left him alone to fetch some ice creams. Denny bumped into Gemma along the way and insisted that she let him meet his grandchildren, her quads Aled, Bryn, Carys and Llio, to which she agreed but his presence soon grated on her and she told him to go back to Paul. When Denny returned to the flat he found Paul barely conscious and phoned an ambulance. Feigning concern, Denny headed to Weatherfield General with the rest of Paul's loved-ones but was ordered to leave. Away from the hospital, Denny began making plans to sell his son's valuable electric wheelchair but was caught in the act by Bernie upon her return from the hospital. Denny pretended that he was having the chair serviced for Paul but she refused to believe him and threatened to call the police. Denny decided to leave, but Paul was initially unwilling to close the door on his dad for good until Bernie told him about the attempted theft of the wheelchair and he finally accepted that his father was a waste of space.
