David Jones (born 30th December 1945 in Manchester, died 29th February 2012 in Stuart, Florida) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1961 as Colin Lomax, the grandson of Ena Sharples. (The character was subsequently played by Alec Sabin upon his return in September 1972).
Under the name Davy Jones, he would later go on to achieve worldwide fame as the singer in the American pop group "The Monkees". As a child actor, he knew Jennifer Moss and the two stayed in close contact at the height of their respective fame. Jones died of a heart attack at his Floridian home, aged 66.
