Darren Barlow was the son of David and Irma Barlow who was born in Adelaide, Australia on 20th November 1968 after his parents had immigrated there earlier in the year when David wanted to further his sporting career and successfully applied for a position on a football team.
The Barlows were involved in a car crash in April 1970. Father and son were critically injured and rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital. David succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards and Darren died the next day. Irma received only minor injuries and returned to Weatherfield shortly after the incident.
- Darren was born after his parents' departure from Weatherfield and therefore only seen in on-set photographs.
