The Custody Officer worked at Weatherfield Police Station where Fiz Stape was held in August 2021 after confessing to starting a fire in 2a Coronation Street. The real culprit was her ten year-old daughter Hope whose life had been torn apart when Tyrone Dobbs had begun an affair with "younger model" Alina Pop and moved out of 9 Coronation Street where he was the partner of Fiz and his own daughter Ruby Dobbs. When Alina fell pregnant, Hope was initially excited but then became jealous that she was being squeezed out of Tyrone's affections, especially when she overheard his delight at the news that the forthcoming baby was a boy. Using a stolen set of keys and some nail varnish remover, she began a blaze using a scented candle to destroy the baby's new cot, not knowing that Alina was asleep in the bedroom. She subsequently suffered a miscarriage.
As suspicions grew into certainty that Hope was the arsonist, Fiz and Tyrone tried to cover for the girl, but Alina circumvented them by contacting the police. Fiz was arrested by DS Abney and was held overnight after making a false confession to protect her daughter. In a further interview, Abney detected cracks in Fiz's story, and she was further held while enquiries continued. Fiz grew impatient in the cell and the custody officer wasn't sympathetic when Fiz demanded an explanation as to what was happening. She was curtly told that she would find out what was going on when Abney was ready and, in the meantime, she should calm down and save her questions for the detective.
