Cressida Lanscombe was the fiancée of Henry Newton.
Gemma Winter was furious to discover an article in the Weatherfield Gazette announcing Henry and Cressida's engagement in July 2018. When Henry turned up once more trying to win Gemma over, he explained that the engagement was set up by his parents as they threatened his inheritance. However, the woman Henry truly loved was Gemma and in order to prove his love for her, he went against his parent's wishes, broke off his engagement with Cressida and led Gemma to believe that he'd bought the Rovers for them both.
Gemma eventually called time on the relationship after seeing through Henry's lies, but in October, she was down in the dumps after learning that Henry had married Cressida after all, and declared that her next boyfriend would be kind and caring.
