Storylines[]

January[]

  • Roy Cropper goes on a solo bat-watching trip in Medlock Woods, but the meeting is cancelled after he departs, and Nina Lucas has no way of contacting him as he still refuses to use his smartphone. She goes to find him with Brian Packham and Asha Alahan in tow but she hurts herself when she falls in the river and has to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. Roy feels guilty for the danger he put her in and starts to use a smartphone. Asha decides to become a paramedic.
  • After Summer Spellman lets bailiffs into Mike and Esther Hargrave’s house, she finds out how their IVF treatment and financial misfortunes have all but bankrupted the couple. Getting drunk after row with Esther, Mike tries to chat up Leanne Battersby. Billy Mayhew pretends to support Summer's surrogacy whilst really trying to undermine it. She is furious when she finds out what he is up to. Leanne tells Billy what happened with Mike. Todd Grimshaw decides to investigate the Hargraves and discovers Mike had an affair with another woman. Summer meets her and discovers that she gave birth to Mike’s son who he is supporting financially and who Esther doesn’t know about. Summer determines to tell Esther about the extent of his betrayal but is locked in the nursery at the Hargraves' house by a panicking Mike. Without access to her insulin, she suffers a diabetic attack and Mike has no option but to take her to Weatherfield General when Esther finds her. They try to check her in under a false name, but Aggie Bailey is on duty and alerts her three dads. The police are informed, and Summer gives a statement. Paul Foreman, with a reluctant Todd accompanying him, confronts Mike after he scares Summer trying to get her to retract her statement. Mike is injured when Paul confronts him, but Todd takes the blame to prevent him going back to prison. At Summer’s request, Esther gets Mike to drop the complaint about Paul. Feeling stupid for how she’s behaved, she announces she’s reapplying for university.
  • Stu Carpenter is angry when he finds Eliza Woodrow watching one of Max Turner’s far-right propaganda videos and complains to David Platt. Having grown increasingly suspicious of Spider Nugent, Griff Reynolds sets him up by hinting that a bomb outrage is about to take place, forcing him to contact his handler. When the police intercept Griff’s gang, Spider is exposed. Griff attacks him and he has to be operated on for a bleed on the brain. He quickly recovers and discharges himself to see to Griff. Max finds out that Griff is planning a real bomb attack with a loaded van outside Speed Daal during a peace festival within the Christmas market. He alerts the Nazirs and Alya Nazir drives the vehicle to waste ground where it explodes, causing her only moderate injuries. Max is arrested and let go after questioning but shows little remorse. Lauren Bolton asks to see Max in No.8, but it is a ruse, and she is being forced to let Griff into the house who tries to get Max to claim that Reece Bolton was to blame. Daryan Zahawi realises Griff is in the house and the police are called. Spider takes pleasure in arresting the bomber. Max turns down an opportunity to go to Cornwall with Lauren.
  • Shona Platt accompanies Lily Platt to London when she is enrolled on a six-week residential football coaching course.
Episode 10856

Teddy Thompkins makes his final journey.

  • Teddy Thompkins has no memory of recent events. Stephen Reid repeats his lie that Leo Thompkins said he wanted nothing to do with his old life when he went to Canada. To Stephen’s alarm, Jenny Connor lets Teddy to move into the Rovers while he recuperates. He helps Stephen out when he feels harassed by Elaine Jones. His faltering memory begins to return, and he decides to go back to Canada to seek out Leo. On the cusp of his departure, he suddenly remembers everything and confronts Stephen who murders him in a deserted Underworld. He hides him in Audrey Roberts’s car roofbox, but before he can drive the car away, his mother takes the car to visit Bev Unwin. David then snatches it for a shopping trip while Stephen expects imminent exposure and arrest. Getting the car back with nothing found out, he hurriedly dumps the roofbox with the body inside it in the Weatherfield Canal. He informs Jenny that Teddy is making a fresh start with Leo. Still taking no interest in Elaine, he tries to interest Jenny, but she’s done with him. Elaine sells her house in Bolton.
  • Sarah Barlow and Michael Bailey set up their Nippersnapper business using Underworld’s resources after hours. Stephen deletes CCTV footage both showing them there, and him killing Teddy. Carla Barlow suspects him of helping Sarah and Michael and he is humiliated when she treats him like dirt and makes him work in packing when Dick Havisham, an old business contact of his visits the factory. He impresses her though when he rallies the workers to get a contract finished in a short time frame.
  • Gemma and Bernie Winter occupy a classroom overnight at Bessie Street School after teacher Mrs York suspends Joseph Brown for using sign language and force her to relent. Gemma insists that she and Chesney Brown get married even though he is adamant that they cannot afford it. She is livid when he used what money they have to try and set up his own business selling his custom-made Chesburger. Paul offers them financial help.
  • Damon Hay tells an alarmed Jacob that he needs him to take delivery of a package arriving at the Viaduct Bistro tomorrow, but it turns out only to be sweets as a test to make sure his son isn’t going to double-cross him. Damon gets an unsuspecting Leanne to agree to change his supplier to a friend of his who is really his courier bringing cocaine in from Ibiza. Jacob tries to back out of any further involvement, but Damon threatens to beat his son up. The real drugs arrive just as the police have a retirement meal in the bistro for a sniffer dog handler, complete with the animal himself, who instantly smells out the contraband. Jacob has to take the £50,000 worth of drugs home and flush them down the toilet when the police follow him. Furious, Damon threatens violence against Jacob unless he leaves Weatherfield. Utterly defeated, Jacob departs. Amy Barlow is distraught. Nick Tilsley is alarmed when Ryan Connor makes enquiries in Ibiza on his behalf and reports back that Damon was involved in drugs, extortion, and hospitalising a club rival. When confronted, Damon tells Nick he has no choice but to go along with his activities, or else his associates will deal with him. Nick gets concerned when he sees Sam Blakeman talking to Damon about his DJ equipment and tries to keep the two apart.
  • Peter Barlow thinks that bartering is a viable alternative to capitalism.
  • Daniel Osbourne gets a job teaching at a secure training centre. Daisy Midgeley is adamant that they have the wedding this year and starts to plan her lavish day. She goes to a licenced victualler’s event where she flirts with trendy DJ Teativo, determined to secure him for the wedding, but she gets drunk and posts a picture to social media of her wrapped around the good-looking man. Hung-over the next day, she hurriedly deletes it, but Daniel has already seen it and she has to pretend that the performer is gay. She starts to receive flowers that she assumes is from the DJ and has to try and hide what’s going on from her fiancé. Daniel searches for Daisy’s old friends on social media to attend the wedding. She stops him, saying they let her down when Tom Midgeley died. More flowers arrive with cards signed by “Justin”. Annoyed at his persistence, Daisy names and shames him on social media, only for the DJ to lose work and visit her, proving he’s not called Justin. Daniel finds out she flirted with the man who isn’t gay at all. He tells her he’s not angry as he accepts that she’s a natural flirt. Her real stalker appears in the Rovers. It's Justin Rutherford who she met at the hospital the previous month and who is suffering mental delusions, thinking that the two are pledged to each other for life. Daisy's problems increase when her somewhat estranged mother, Christina Boyd, turns up from Amsterdam, having heard about the wedding via Daniel’s contacts. Daniel engineers a reconciliation between the two women where Christina admits she was a rotten mother as she never really wanted the role, but nevertheless she’s proud of her daughter. Despite being blocked time and again, Justin continues to send Daisy text messages.
  • Gemma is amazed when Michael pays her the high going-rate to child-mind Glory. She decides she is going to offer BSL-friendly childminding services and puts out an online advert. She has to give up when it’s made clear she has no qualifications or professional approvals or insurance. Nevertheless, Michael is happy to continue with her services and Daniel also asks her to mind Bertie Osbourne.
  • Gary Windass is annoyed with Maria Connor when she refuses to cut back on her campaigning. She clashes with Len Cameron when he claims on TV that the attack on Speed Daal was as a result of open-door policies, and she agrees to front a campaign for a new refugee centre. She and Alya host a drop-in session in Speed Daal where Blake Myers, influenced by Max’s videos, tries to stab Maria over a live podcast but instead badly injures Alya. As she recovers following surgery to a punctured lung, Max is charged with incitement to attempted murder and remanded in custody. The charge is changed to encouragement of terrorism and both he and Blake plead guilty. Max feels he has to take responsibility. David is outraged that no one in the family will fund his defence.
  • Fiz Dobbs and Tyrone Dobbs discover that Hope Stape is listening to John Stape’s tape and find out from Sam that it helps her feel close to her dad. They deal sympathetically with her. When Chesney reminds Tyrone that Schmeichel got him through some hard times, Tyrone treats the girls to a pet, and they choose a chinchilla which Hope names Cilla. A brightened Hope agrees to change her surname to Dobbs. Fiz is unimpressed with Cilla but within days the animal is dead, seemingly killed by Peanut when they were left alone in the room together. Seeking revenge, Hope pretends that the dog has bitten her but begins to regret her actions when Fiz tells her that Peanut may have to be put down.
  • Evelyn Plummer gets the wrong idea when Fiz and Tyrone decide to spice up their sex life with role play and thinks her grandson is having another affair. All parties are embarrassed when she follows him to the Chariot Square Hotel and finds the two in the bar, dressed as alter-egos "Lance" and "Penelope".

February[]

  • Justin's harassment of Daisy continues as he follows her to a wedding fayre posing as her fiancé and gets a job as a courier delivering to the street. She and Daniel inform the police, but Craig Tinker advises them that there is little they can do. Daisy grows upset at the bickering between Christina and Jenny and her mother decides to leave the area to keep the peace.
  • Tyrone catches Hope out in her lies and he and Fiz make her apologise to Beth Sutherland for putting Peanut in danger. Hope encounters Beth and gives her cheek. She says that Beth has slapped her face but is not believed by her parents. Behind their backs, Beth apologises to Hope for what she did.
  • Sam attacks a girl who is bullying him at school after Damon gives him tips on fighting. Leanne is puzzled as to why Nick has such a hostile attitude to Damon when he is just being friendly with his son, and he has to confess to his links to Harvey Gaskell and the drug smuggling taking place under her nose. Losing her trust in Nick, she begs Damon to leave them alone, but he refuses and tells Nick to handle another drug delivery to the bistro. Their arrival is followed in quick succession by two masked men, rivals of Damon’s, who try to steal them at gunpoint from a scared and uncomprehending Ryan. Sam is present and Nick is furious that his son was put at risk. He reports Damon to the police who arrest him. Sam learns that Damon was Harvey's brother, and that Nick has known for some time. Feeling bitterly betrayed, he asks his father to move out of the flat and blanks his attempts at reconciliation. Ryan struggles to deal with his brush with death.
  • Eileen Grimshaw returns from Thailand. George Shuttleworth cracks one of Todd’s teeth when they have a playfight and Sean Tully makes him have an appointment with Laurence Reeves to fix it. Mitch, a taxi driver that Todd uses recognises Laurence and tells Todd to warn Sean to watch his back. Sean dismisses Todd and Eileen’s concerns. Mitch tells them he had an affair with Laurence when he was married to his wife and suggests that he murdered her in Switzerland. Laurence books himself and Sean a holiday in the Alps and asks Sean if he can be put down as his next of kin on the travel documents, causing Sean deep unease. He confesses his fears to Laurence who tells him the circumstances of Lindsey’s death and finishes with him for thinking him capable of murder.
  • Dev Alahan is irritated when he takes Bernie golfing and she easily beats him. The ladies' golf captain offers her a scholarship, but she deliberately throws the trial so as not to make Dev jealous.
  • Roy becomes addicted to his mobile phone. Evelyn returns working at the charity shop when she finds out that Joy has been transferred to the Oldham branch. She asks Roy to price up a train set but he is too distracted with his phone and she ends up selling it for only 5% of its value.
  • Sarah tells Adam Barlow that she is too busy with Nippersnapper to consider having a baby. Client Rufus Donahue is interested in the line and Sarah and Michael persuade Beth to stitch up samples for them after hours. Rufus asks for a tour of the factory which he is given when Carla is out of the way. She discovers what is going on and claims ownership to the designs as they were made on her premises with her equipment. Michael and Sarah are forced to take their loss on the chin. Stephen is intrigued to discover that Carla once suffered from psychosis. Rufus pulls out of the deal and Carla orders Stephen to rescue the contract. He visits the salesman at his hotel where soon afterwards Rufus suffers a heart attack through habitual drug use. Stephen discovers he had an escort booked and gets Rufus’s signature on the contract by threatening to expose his sordid secret to his wife. He also steals Rufus’s supplies of LSD that he microdoses with. When Carla makes Stephen her dogsbody, he begins to feed her doses of the drug making people think her psychosis is returning. Drugged up, Carla drives the Underworld van and knocks Paul over, creating even more concern about her mental state. Peter thinks the factory is proving too much for her and Stephen is delighted when she tells him and Sarah that she's taking a step back. He doses her up further when she considers returning and during her absence tries to provoke a rebellion amongst the 50% shareholders to have a vote of no confidence against her. Faye Windass tips her off as to what is going on and she returns fighting fit to the factory. She fires Stephen but he blackmails Rufus again into insisting that he will work with no one but him, leaving her no option but to reinstate him on a promotion.
  • Billy realises he still has feelings for Paul and the two grow closer after his accident. Paul has a panic attack when Billy kisses him. Todd realises that it's due to feelings of guilt over letting him take the rap for the assault on Mike and encourages Paul to be honest with Billy. He does so and the two men are reconciled with Todd’s full support. As a result of his accident with Carla, Paul has trouble gripping his right hand and Ed Bailey has to let him go from the yard. He is unable to help Gemma with her £4,000 gas bill and reluctantly agrees to Dee-Dee Bailey's suggestion that he sues Carla for compensation from her insurance.

Peter triumphs.

  • Peter barters items upwards in the hope of eventually reaching the stage of being able to obtain a motorbike. Carla makes a bet with him that he will not succeed. When he finds a bike for sale, he is soon afterwards arrested for handling stolen goods but let go when the real culprit is caught. The bike’s true owner offers to barter it with him as she bought it for her husband who has since had an affair and she now wants to teach him a lesson. Peter therefore wins the bet.
  • Dee-Dee persuades Alya to return to work at the solicitors but one of the first clients she encounters is Jayden Beck, a man on a stabbing charge, and Alya explodes at him for what he did, losing him as a client.
  • Zeedan Nazir returns from London where he has encountered Marrium and confessed to her that he stood by while her father died in front of him. Knowing full well what her father was like, she asks him to return to London in the hope that they can work things out. Alya pushes him to agree, and reconciled with his wife he leaves for the capital.
  • David stresses over Max's upcoming sentencing, not helped by some in the community blaming him for what happened. Maria is strong in her defence and support of him, annoying Gary. Max is given a 10-month sentence in the same centre where Daniel works. He asks David not to visit him, but on one of his first days is beaten up by two other lads and moved to another section where Daniel is his teacher. David drinks his woes away and when Maria tries to talk to him, he leans in for a kiss. Gary is apoplectic when he finds out and confronts David when he is with Shona who has just returned from London to support him. She walks out on him and spends the night at the cafe flat. She reluctantly joins David and Lily in visiting Max where she sees how genuinely upset her husband is and reconciles with him.
  • Alya leans on Ryan as she tries to come to terms with what’s happened to her, and they spend the night together but agree not to take their relationship further for the moment. Daniel and Ryan both suggest to Alya that she visits Max as part of her healing process. She does so and shows the youngster no forgiveness, but she is galvanised to complete her victim impact statement which she reads out at Blake’s sentencing where he receives twelve years. Daryan finds out that his brother is in Nottingham and leaves the area to be with him.
  • Spider cons Griff into revealing that Len Cameron was their financial sponsor. The councillor is arrested, and a search of his computer reveals that he was RedPilled100, Maria’s troll.
  • Mary Taylor discovers Brian was behind the positive review of Roxanna and falls out with him, feeling deceived. No.12 needs rewiring and Amy offers Brian the spare room at the builder’s yard flat whilst the work is done. She soon regrets her charity when he reorganises the flat with rotas and refuses to give the youngsters their space. In an effort to get rid of him, Amy restores his friendship with Mary, but Brian is enjoying his time with the younger generation too much to move out.
  • Summer receives a conditional offer from Manchester University.
  • Justin gets hold of Daisy's phone number and starts to bombard her with messages. She and Daniel make another complaint to the police where PC Scott infers that her strong social media presence is to blame, but he also starts to follow her online himself. Getting more and more pressured, Daisy snaps when she sees Justin with flowers on Victoria Street and assaults him, only to find he is on his way to the funeral parlour where his recently deceased mother is in repose. Justin reports her for assault and Jess Heywood takes her to the station for questioning where she is shocked to witness PC Scott's attitude towards her. She ensures he is given an official reprimand. Justin drops his complaint, saying he is willing to give Daisy another chance to show her love for him, so she threatens him with a stalking order. Her words have no effect when he acts as the delivery man for some wedding cake samples.
  • With his commission from the Donahue deal, Steven is able to pay Elaine her money back. She considers a penthouse in the Redbank Apartments but cannot afford the high price and is delighted when Stephen suggests they buy it together as friends.
  • Rufus leaves an expensive watch in Peter's taxi which he finds out is worth £15,000. Soon afterwards, he tells Carla he has a nest egg of that amount and in suggests they go on holiday.
  • Faye confides in Sally Metcalfe that the Hodges have moved back to the UK and Jackson has offered to let her see Miley but she doesn’t want to open up that old wound.

March[]

  • Stephen accidentally doses himself with LSD when attempting to do the same to Carla and suffers a trip when giving a presentation at the Chariot Square Hotel. Elaine comes to his rescue, and he finds himself inadvertently proposing to her, though he gets her to agree that their engagement is a secret. They plan to buy one of the Redbank Apartments. He negotiates an advantageous deal for the Nippersnapper line with clients of an American company. He blackmails Rufus for more supplies of LSD and double doses Carla when she again undermines him. Rufus sees Peter and Stephen escorting Carla back to her flat and recognises the symptoms of a bad trip. With his wife having left him, Rufus is able to turn the tables on Stephen and blackmails him, saying he knows that he's drugging Carla. Stephen keeps the pressure up on Carla by arranging a grill pan fire in her flat while she is asleep, Roy rescues her, and Peter arranges for her to stay at a residential clinic with everyone convinced her psychosis has returned. Gaining a vote from the shareholders for him to take over, Stephen is delighted to have at last wrested control of the factory from her, but his joy is short-lived went Rufus insists he’s given the American deal. Unaware of what’s really transpiring, Michael thinks the Americans have pulled out of their own accord and entices them back with improved designs. A desperate Stephen gets Rufus to agree to the new strategy which he does, while demanding 25% of the profits for himself.
  • Evelyn celebrates her 77th birthday and is disappointed when Roy fails to arrive at her surprise party, not knowing that he was diverted in rescuing Carla. She forgives him when Fiz informs her what happened, but their friendship faces the ultimate test when Cerberus eats a dropped Eccles cake on the floor of the cafe which Roy forgot to pick up and is poisoned by the raisins, giving him kidney failure. Unable to do anything for him, the vet puts him to sleep. Roy is appalled that he was to blame, and a distraught Evelyn tells him she wants nothing to do with him. She weakens and allows Roy to participate in the dog’s ashes scattering.
  • Paul is told his hand might be a bruised nerve. Peter offers Paul a £15,000 pay-off for the accident if he drops the case against Carla. Paul rejects it on Dee-Dee’s advice and obtains a bank loan to help Gemma, pending his compensation claim coming through. When his hand shows no sign of improvement, Dr Gaddas refers him to a neurologist while he gives Gemma some of his loan money to pay for a wedding venue. Paul is sent for scans but is also told his problem isn’t as a result of the crash. He therefore has to drop the compensation claim and now has no way to pay the loan instalments back. A sympathetic Dee-Dee offers him filing work at the solicitors, paying him out of her own pocket, while Billy also supports him, suggesting that he move back in with him to avoid having to pay the rent on the corner shop flat.
  • Brian moves back to his flat. Amy suspects that Aaron Sandford is playing behind Summer’s back with his ex-girlfriend Mia Penrose. Nevertheless, she and Summer fall out when Amy tells her friend that she is too needy. Amy and Aaron get drunk together when they are alone in the flat and Aaron has sex with her after she passes out and is unable to consent. Aaron maintains that Amy was up for it in the bedroom and accuses her of making insinuations out of guilt for betraying Summer. Unable to comprehend what’s happened to her, Amy moves back to No.1 and becomes withdrawn from everyone. Tyrone and Abi Webster tell Aaron that he’s being promoted to mechanic after his probation. Unable to afford the flat rental on his own, Aaron accepts Abi's offer to move into No.13. Summer finds out from Aaron that the two slept together but he remains quiet about the true circumstances. After Summer confronts her, Amy is pushed into telling Tracy McDonald that she was raped. She makes a complaint to the police and Aaron is arrested but soon released without charge as Amy's phone has photographs dated after the incident of the two of them socialising together with seemingly nothing wrong. Summer believes Amy when she tells her side of the story. Angry that nothing is being done about her daughter, Tracy prints up flyers accusing the police of decriminalising rape.
  • Sally unsuccessfully tries to persuade Faye to change her mind. Tim Metcalfe is shocked when Jackson turns up at No.4, offering to let him see Miley. He accepts the invitation but tell Sally to keep it quiet from his daughter. Faye is angry when she finds out about the deception but relents and agrees to meet Miley herself. Although the visit is awkward, they arrange to see each other again.
  • Maria discovers the extent of that stalking that Daisy is suffering from Justin and advises her to get a protection order. In the meantime, Christina returns with a new young boyfriend in tow who is none other than Justin. A horrified Daisy gets her mother to drop him. Fearful that he has found out the date of the wedding from her mother, she brings the event forward but Justin counters by telling all her sponsors about the assault and they all pull out of her wedding arrangements. Daniel is enraged when Justin lets himself into an unlocked No.1 to see Daisy and assaults him on the eve of the protection order hearing. Justin's appearance in the courtroom in a neck brace gains the court’s sympathy and the order is refused. Daisy considers whether or not to marry Daniel, angry at the detrimental effects his actions have produced, but she soon forgives him. They receive a visit from Karen, Justin’s estranged sister who warns Daisy that her brother is dangerous. To get rid of him once and for all, Daisy provokes him into attacking her and he is quickly arrested by Craig. Her sponsors agree to supply her again, but she is horrified to learn that Justin has been released on bail. Her wedding woes increase as Tracy tries to wind her up by insisting on being bridesmaid in return for the supplying the flowers, and Glenda Shuttleworth pushes for her to be booked as the wedding singer. The final straw is when her mother invites two of her bitchy school friends to her hen do. After putting up with their jibes, she throws them out and uninvites her mother who retorts tells her that all weddings in their family end up being cursed.
  • Kevin and Debbie Webster go to Germany to be with Bill Webster when their father has a heart attack.
  • Hope tells Sam about Beth’s slap, and he believes her. When Hope plays truant, she flinches back and begs not to be hit when Fiz rapidly approaches her to remonstrate, and she and Tyrone realise she was telling the truth about the incident. Beth initially refuses to apologise but passes on a contrite letter to the unimpressed girl who starts to milk her parents’ guilt. She and Sam agree that they’re now boyfriend and girlfriend, making Nick sad that he’s missing out on his son’s life.
  • Kirk Sutherland monetarily falls out with Beth when he discovers that she also lied to him about Hope. He is also annoyed to discover she has kept a letter from her first love, Marco Sweeney, who has moved back to the UK from New Zealand. Glenda sends Marco a friend request from Beth’s phone, hoping to connect with him herself, and Beth arranges to meet her old friend on the quiet. The two enjoy each other’s company. Beth agrees to help him organise a school reunion but when she realises that he's after more than that, she tells him she doesn't want to see him again.
  • Adam tells Dee-Dee that the law firm is in a parlous financial state. Damon takes up his desperate offer that the firm represents him at his trial, but Dee-Dee warns Adam that he won't be able to keep their new client a secret from Nick and the family. On the eve of romantic night at a hotel with Adam, Sarah discovers what her husband has done and rows with him, going to the hotel on her own. Damon is also there and the two find a mutual attraction, despite not knowing who each other is. Sarah almost sleeps with Damon but gets cold feet and is appalled when she finds out his true identity. She begs him to leave her family alone and he offers Nick a truce to get himself into Sarah’s good books.

  • Ryan thinks Alya is going cold on him again and is attracted to Crystal Hyde, an events promoter from Ibiza. She offers him a DJ job in the resort which he accepts. On the day of Daisy’s wedding, he acts as her chauffeur and is at the Rovers to collect her when a deranged Justin attacks the bride by throwing a vial of acid at her. Ryan steps in and catches most of the noxious liquid in his face. Screaming in pain, he is taken to hospital accompanied by Daisy. The wedding is called off. Ryan has to undertake an agonising emergency skin graft. Daisy sees Justin waiting in the hospital car park and manages to entrap him before the police arrive and arrest him. Ryan is given psychological counselling to prepare him for the changes in his life that that will occur as a result of his injuries. After first rejecting Alya’s presence by his bedside, he allows her in to support him as he begins the slow road to recovery.
  • Brian irritates all his friends when a DNA test tells him that his ancestry is partially Italian, and he plays up on the news by adopting many aspects of the lifestyle of that country. Rita Tanner makes Mary tell him that he's making a fool of himself which causes the two of them to fall out.

April[]

  • Tracy's flyers mean that some of the residents start to find out about Amy’s ordeal. The girl also suffers when Tracy tries to glue herself to the police station’s reception desk to get action and asks journalist Suki Waters tries to cover the protest. To take the intense pressure off herself, Amy lies that she was wrong in her accusation. Abi tells a saddened Aaron that she's on his side and Aadi Alahan also believes Amy’s about-turn, though Summer has her doubts. Amy struggles to live her life without closure on the matter. Aaron invites himself to a surprise party that Asha and Aadi organise for Nina’s 21st birthday but changes his mind when Asha asks him to decline. When the booking for the proposed venue goes wrong, Aaron offers the flat for the party which is reluctantly accepted by all concerned. During the evening, Aaron’s attempts to talk to Amy ends up with her assaulting him and she tells her friends that Aaron did indeed rape her, and she lied to try and make it all her pain go away. Aadi pretends to doubt her story in order to get Aaron blind drunk and writes "guilty" on his forehead with a permanent marker. Under pressure from her university for missed work, Amy drinks heavily and ends up in hospital. Tracy and Steve McDonald find out about the true extent of their daughter’s suffering. Amy rejects Aaron’s present of a new laptop when she accidentally breaks hers.
  • Faye organises a birthday tea for Miley to which Craig invites Kirk and Beth who smother the shy girl, much to Jackson’s annoyance. Annoyed with Craig, Faye starts to spend more time with Jackson. Making a further hash of things by getting Miley a baseball bat when she expressed a liking for basketball, Craig admits to Faye that he’s jealous of Jackson. Jackson tells Faye that he wants her to live with him and Miley when he begins a new job in Slough and for her to leave Craig. Faye feels pressured into saying yes when Craig proposes to her in front of their friends and families and has to deny Jackson’s story when he tells Craig that Faye is going to leave him and move away. Tim can see that his daughter is unhappy. Craig has to arrest Jackson when he gets drunk and shoves him when he’s on duty but he doesn’t press any charges.
  • Stephen lies to Elaine that Gabrielle Reid has defrauded him, and he has no money to put into the flat. Supporting him, she agrees to fund the shortfall. He also lies to the staff that Nippersnapper will bring them the large bonus they are expecting. Prompted by Ronnie Bailey, Michael asks for a cut of the profits, and on edge, Stephen explodes at him. Feeling his skills are not being appreciated, Michael resigns from the firm when Rufus offers him a job in London. When Rufus increases his demands to 50% of the profits, Stephen murders him by dosing him with LSD and drowning him in the swimming pool of his luxurious rented house in Cheshire. Finding out about the death, Michael begs Stephen to take him back on, even though Nina was interested in the designer’s job, and he is promoted to junior manager with Stephen mentoring him. Michael impresses Stephen by getting Rufus’s company to honour the European contract. Stephen tries to defer Elaine from announcing their engagement, whilst still having an eye on Jenny himself. Stephen threatens to kill two lads who he tried to obtain LSD from and who now attempt to blackmail him after reading of Rufus’s death and putting two and two together. Owen Longford and Angelique Simmons put in a second order for Nippersnapper to supply American shops. Owen takes a fancy to Jenny, much to Stephen’s chagrin. Elaine lets slip about her engagement and Tim becomes suspicious as to what Stephen wants from his mother. Mother and son row and she's moves out of No.4. The engaged couple decide to elope to Las Vegas.
  • Bill Webster dies in Germany. Kevin and Debbie fly over there to attend to the funeral.
  • Brian and Mary bury the hatchet. Brian receives an email from a family tree website about an Italian cousin called Isabella Benvenuti. Planning to visit her, Brian receives an email from her telling him that she’ll visit him in Weatherfield as her Naples flat is currently under renovation.
  • Finding out that Dee-Dee is supporting him finanically and thinking it unfair, Paul moves back in with Billy. Under pressure from the loan company, he secures part-time work at the bistro. He is devastated when told by the neurologist that he may have motor neurone disease but keeps the news to himself, pending confirmation from a specialist. Hearing of Damon’s reputation, he secures through him jobs from a violent associate, Niall Granger, stealing cars to order. He gives Gemma more money for her wedding venue when her initial one goes bust. One of the cars that Paul steals is Rufus’s, taken from his house on the night of his murder, with Paul unaware of what was transpiring inside the residence. Billy gets a tax rebate and decides to use it to pay off Paul’s debts. Paul is found in possession of Rufus’s car, but the police find evidence he had already taken it by the time that Rufus died and is only charged with theft. Soon after, his specialist confirms that he has limb onset motor neurone disease and could have as little as three years to live. Billy is unaware of both developments with Dee-Dee knowing everything as she acts as his lawyer. Paul hides Damon and Niall’s part in the car theft operations.
  • Damon continues in his quest to seduce Sarah. To please her, he engineers a reconciliation between Leanne and Nick by convincing Leanne that he’s going straight. Sarah caves into him when she is angry with Adam for working long hours, and also after Damon assists her in clinching a deal, but regrets her action almost immediately afterwards. Dee-Dee manages to get Damon’s drugs case dismissed on a technicality and works out that Sarah and Damon slept together. Feeling guilty, Sarah tells Adam it’s time they started a family. Still determined to turn over a new leaf, Damon suggests the bistro applies for a late licence to capitalise on student trade. Nick and Leanne reluctantly agree. Sarah isn’t happy when Adam acts for Damon in making the application and makes him pass the work on to Dee-Dee and Alya.
  • Carla discharges herself from the clinic to give Ryan her support and is not interested in returning to Underworld. He delays taking the difficult step of looking at his injuries but is pleased to receive visits from Alya. Everyone is disappointed when Justin pleads not guilty as they wanted an end to the matter. Ryan is specially affected, dreading reliving his ordeal in court but finds solace in Alya and tells her that he loves her. As she only wants to see him as a friend, Daisy tries to bring Ryan and Crystal together, but the club promoter makes it clear to Daisy that she wants nothing more to do with him. Ryan steals himself to look at his face once the bandages are removed and is distraught at his appearance. His morale dips further when he is told he has to have another skin graft and for a while he skips the hospital to avoid the procedure. To keep his spirits up Daisy sends him texts posing as Crystal. The ruse works and he is discharged. Carla takes him in to look after him. Ryan is buoyed up by further texts which he thinks come from Crystal.
  • Glenda discovers that Shuttleworth’s customer Estelle Harrington is an old friend from her cruise days. She’s now the co-owner of a string of performing arts clubs for kids and offers her friend the Weatherfield franchise for £5,000. George lends her the funds, though Eileen is angry, thinking that he’s thrown away his money on a scam. Glenda’s first class at the community centre is a success.

Roy and Evelyn's friendship takes a step forward.

  • Melvyn, a friend of Roy’s dies suddenly, and his family dump his dog, Freddie, on him. Evelyn thinks he’s unfit to look after the animal but, contrary as ever, is appalled when he gives Freddie to a dog shelter. Stung, Roy takes ownership of the pet, despite finding the needy dog an intrusion in his life. Evelyn wins a raffle organised by Glenda to raise funds for her stage school and is disappointed to find the prize is salsa lessons. Roy is dragooned into being her partner but rushes out halfway through the lessons, saying he feels unwell. She’s hurt but is alarmed when he later tells her that he’s been suffering chest pains and Dr Gaddas has referred him for tests.
  • Beth changes her mind about Marco after he sends her numerous texts. He kisses her when they meet, unaware that a watching Hope is photographing the moment. Meeting Marco again at the Chariot Square Hotel, Beth comes across Faye, also having a secret assignation with Jackson there. The two women are forced to keep each other’s secret but Beth finds herself in trouble when a vengeful hope sends Kirk the photograph. He leaves his wife and moves in with Tyrone and fiz.
  • Eliza is being bullied at her school because her mum is in prison. After considering sending her to Oakhill using funds from £200,000 compensation given for his false imprisonment, Stu agrees to her request that she goes to Weatherfield High. She and Sam form a bond over being bullied, making Hope jealous. With Eliza’s birthday coming up, Hope tries to set her up by suggesting she asks to have a stretch limo party.
  • George becomes stressed about his work. Eileen thinks he needs a hobby and to her surprise he decides to build a model ship. The interest begins to take up all of his time.

May[]

  • Tim tries everything to get his mother to change her mind, but she refuses to listen. Audrey is upset at the elopement but when it is cancelled, she and Elaine begin to find common ground over both of them having had to abandon sons. After Elaine experiences a funny turn, Stephen finds out she suffers from high blood pressure and, still after her money, he secretly takes out an insurance policy in her name. However, he also has a pre-nup drawn up to allay Tim’s concerns.
  • Stephen tries to put Jenny off Owen, telling her that he has a history of being a sleazebag. She subsequently turns down a date with the puzzled man.
  • Dee-Dee introduces Paul to Trish, a woman whose husband had MND, and he realises the financial implications of his condition. He offers to take another car for Niall, but Dee-Dee is suspicious and follows him, preventing him from doing anything stupid. Getting desperate, Paul tries to blackmail Damon into giving him money or he will tell the police about his dealings with Niall. In retaliation, Damon alerts Niall and sets Paul up for a beating. When Damon discovers the sentence of death that Paul is now living under, he has an attack of conscience and is himself badly beaten by Niall for refusing to reveal Paul’s whereabouts. Hearing what happened, Dee-Dee becomes exasperated with her friend for seemingly sabotaging her every attempt to keep him out of jail. Paul is found guilty of car theft but has to wait several weeks for his sentencing. Ed is puzzled when Paul tells Ed to replace him at the yard. He is given hope when he reads of a new treatment, but his morale takes a hit when he’s informed that it’s highly unlikely that he’ll qualify for it. He is further depressed when the condition begins to affect his right foot though he continues to try and hide it from everyone but Dee-Dee. Wanting to solidify their relationship by adopting a child, Billy becomes suspicious about Paul's strange manner and goes through his things, finding out that he has a sentencing hearing that very day. He sits in the public gallery as the magistrate hands down a suspended sentence due to Paul’s MND and thus discovers that his boyfriend is dying. He gives him his full support.
  • Supposedly unhappy at the thought of Damon staying in the area, Sarah slyly tries to set up objections to the bistro's late licence among the residents. She is soon found out, causing a further rift between her and Adam who thinks she is spoiling his client’s interests. Nick answers residents’ concerns at a meeting he organises. Still attracted by Damon, Sarah has another tryst with him and is made to feel guilty by a disapproving Dee-Dee. She tells Damon it’s over between them.
  • Amy starts to suffer panic attacks. A cleaned-up Eric Sandford asks his son to move in with him at his new place, and Amy is pleased when he moves out of No.13. Nevertheless, she decides she’s not ready to date a lad on her course and is perturbed when Aaron, still working at the garage, starts to see his old girlfriend, Mia. She warns the girl about Aaron in front of Abi who cannot understand why she is changing her story again. Amy gives her a full account which convinces Abi to take Amy’s side. Mia doesn’t believe her though, and makes a harassment complaint to the police. Amy writes up her ordeal and Steve encourages her to post it online. This results in Aaron being sacked by Tyrone and Abi, and Eric suing Amy for libel when she refuses to retract with a public apology. Steve and Tracy give their daughter their full support but are warned by Dee-Dee that they face financial ruin if they lose. Amy worries about the implications on them as well as Mary’s job at the flower shop and the residents of the flat above. Knowing of the McDonald’s plight, Ed offers to finish off their roof work for them.
  • Brian discovers that he has a fellow enthusiast in George and the two work on their model ships together. They fall out when George thinks Brian has stolen his maidenhead figurine to sabotage his attempt to win a competition. Isabella arrives and she and Brian hit it off, but Mary is suspicious that the overly agreeable lady has a little too much in common with her British cousin. Annoyed with George’s cocky attitude over his model ship, Isabella superglues it to the table and rows with Mary when she suspects her of the sabotage. Todd brokers a peace between them all. Isabella claims that subsidence has been found in her flat and she can’t return for some time.
  • Summer gets a job working as a server at events to help with the flat bills but still looks for more part-time work.
  • The residents celebrate the King's Coronation with a party in the Rovers.
  • Ryan insists that Peter and Carla go on a trip to Scotland that they considered cancelling in order to look after him. Daisy tries to reduce his reliance on “Crystal” by giving him her own support, but he’s devastated when he overhears her saying she just feels sorry for him. Max struggles in the STC, despite his friendship with follow inmate Gav Adetiba. Max steals Daniel’s phone to make a video outlining his feelings of guilt at his actions. Seeing that it’s a way to get through to the boy, and worried that he’s at risk of a mental health breakdown, Daniel lends him Daisy’s spare phone to make more videos, not knowing it’s the one she uses to pose as Crystal. Max has possession of it when Ryan leaves a voice-message saying he’s feeling really unwell. Alerted by him, Ryan is rescued by Daniel when he collapses with an infection in his skin graft and is hospitalised. Daniel finds out about the catfishing but is assured when Daisy tells him it’s only done to support Ryan. Seeing how encouraging he finds the texts from Crystal, Daisy is unable bring an end to the pretence.
  • To cope with increased demand, Underworld trains up staff in a new unit in Norfolk. Fiz is given as six-month secondment there on double-pay as its supervisor, leaving Tyrone to cope with the girls.
  • Despite herself, Faye starts to fall for Jackson, and she has to push herself to be happy for Craig when he is given a secondment to CID. To prove to herself that she still loves him, she decides to organise a surprise party to celebrate the news. Gary can see that his sister is falling for Jackson and during the party at the bistro, arranges for the two of them to meet in secret at the adjoining furniture shop to try and sort out their lives. Craig and Beth see that Faye is missing, and Craig finds out from his mother about the assignation at the hotel. Deeply upset, Craig starts drinking and in his intoxicated state threatens to tell the police the truth about Ted Spear’s death. Alarmed, Faye insists she’s turned Jackson’s overtures down. Craig apologises when he’s sober and is keen to set a date for their wedding. Gary finds out about the blackmail, as well as the events of Ted’s death, and warns Craig off taking such a path. Craig sees that Faye doesn’t want him anymore and gives her his blessing to go off with Jackson and Miley. She leaves Weatherfield to begin her new life. Sally tries to cheer up Craig and Tim when she sees how upset the two men are with her departure.
  • Hope sabotages the Eliza’s birthday trip by getting invited guests from school to decline. Roy is suspicious of her intervention and he and Sam organise an alternative party at Speed Daal. There, Hope sabotages a science display put on by Roy and Sam which sets off the fire alarms. Finding out what she’s done, Sam finishes with her.
Episode 10966

A truly unique wedding dress.

  • Debbie offers Gemma a free booking at the Chariot Square. She finds the perfect dress and Paul surreptitiously takes photographs of it in order they can make a cheap copy. Buying a dress in a charity shop, Gemma asks Izzy Armstrong to make it into something to her own tastes and invites Linda Hancock to the wedding. When she arrives from Portugal, she sees how strapped for cash the couple are and pays for many of the costs of the wedding, though she and Chesney hide the extent of her largesse from Gemma, so as not to hurt her feelings, and Bernie is also kept in the dark as she thinks Linda is lording it over them with her money. Rita provides the money for a joint stag and hen do. At the event, Paul is overcome with depression about his MND and rows with Gemma. He decides not to attend the wedding and spoil his sister’s big day. Joseph makes him change his mind and he walks his sister down the aisle. At the reception, Linda and Bernie get into a food fight when Bernie finds out how she's paid for most of the event. Paul burst into tears when he makes a speech and runs out of the room. Gemma and Bernie follow and find out about his diagnosis. They rally round him, especially when Paul is told that he is not suitable for the new treatment. Gemma and Chesney donate their Anglesey honeymoon to Paul and Billy so they can have some time together.
  • Visiting the STC, David finds it hard to get through to a remorseful Max, and Daniel has the idea of mirroring Max’s own solution and gets David to record a video to show his son what his true feelings for him are. It works and Max is assured of David's declarations of support and love. Max and Gav agree to meet up once they’re released but, with Gav being black, Max hides from him the reason for his incarceration.
  • Joseph continues to learn his craft at Little Big Shotz.
  • After suffering a series of chest pains, Roy is diagnosed with angina and is hospitalised to have a stent fitted. He hides the occurrence from Nina so as not to alarm her but changes his mind when he sees how upset Summer is at being kept in the dark by Paul about his MND. Evelyn agrees to look after Freddie for him and Roy hands her a stack of letters for her to distribute should he die.
  • Justin is found guilty of assaulting Daisy, but a separate trial has to take place for the acid attack. Desperate to keep her mentally ill brother out of jail, Karen overhears an argument between Carla and Daisy about her history of manipulating men and passes the information onto the defence as the trial begins. Ryan can’t bring himself to attend, putting a successful prosecution at risk.

June[]

  • Ryan brings himself to attend court where he is given a hard time in the witness box by the defence barrister. Afterwards Daisy has to calm him down and in doing so shares a kiss with him. Justin is found guilty, being remanded for sentencing. Almost immediately afterwards, Ryan reads a message on Crystal's website saying she's had an accident and is in a coma. When a text from her then comes through, he realises he’s been catfished. Realising that she’s been rumbled, Daisy suggests that Justin and Karen must have been behind it. Ryan continues to hide away in the flat. Daniel gets Daisy to try and talk to him, which results in another kiss. Carla persuades him to brave the outside world, but this results in a passing conversation with Max who mentions having possession of Daisy's phone when he collapsed with the infection and Ryan realises the true identity of his cat-fisher. After he, Jenny, Carla and Debbie all make their feelings clear about what she did, Ryan himself is prepared to forgive her until he sees her celebrating a possible flat move with Daniel to Didsbury and accuses her of moving on quickly from her shame of what she did. Nevertheless, he doesn’t tell Daniel about this kiss, not wanting to bring harm to Bertie by splitting up a family.
  • Evelyn steams open the letter that Roy left for her and reads the warm words of his appreciation for her friendship. The operation goes well but Evelyn, wanting to take their relationship further, isn't pleased to find Yasmeen Metcalfe visiting Roy’s bedside. She has unwittingly bought Hayley Cropper's red coat in a charity shop and returns it to the grateful widower just before he is discharged. Evelyn looks after Freddie while he recovers and is jealous when Roy takes him back and spends time with Yasmeen. She’s quietly satisfied when Freddie shows a yearning to be with her rather than Roy and he suggests they reach a cooperative care agreement for the dog’s care.
  • Billy and Paul enjoy their break but upon their return Paul finds that Bernie is trying to organise both his personal independence payment and a charity collection for him. Annoyed that he’s already being treated as incapable, he relents when he sees that his mother has her own emotional need to help him. When she sees him collapse while trying to get on a bus, she tries crystal therapy on him, causing a row with Billy who thinks it’s a pagan rite while she, in turn, rejects his religious beliefs. To circumvent Paul’s pride about taking charity, Gemma organises a sponsored chilli eating contest. Billy is perturbed to find out that Paul was never christened but he resists Billy’s efforts to make him go through with the ceremony.
  • Max is given an early release but full of self-loathing, he refuses to leave his room in the STC until talked round by David. He has an ankle tag fitted and is ordered not to go within 50 yards of speed dial but instantly breaks the condition to deliver a letter of apology to Alya. She threatens him to keep away. The police also caution Max with breaking the conditions of his release. Gary advises him to show the world that he is a better person. Max keeps a promise to Gav to see his girlfriend Bec and find out why she isn't returning his calls, but he falls for the girl himself when she makes it clear that she fancies him. Max worries that Bec doesn’t know why he was in the STC and loses the courage to tell her. When Alya sees them kissing, she takes Bec to one side and tells her about her boyfriend’s crimes. She finishes with a crushed Max. Gav is released early from the STC. Max confesses to him that he has feelings for his girlfriend and is saved from a beating when Bec appears on the scene and an amused Gav realises that Max mistook his sister Sabrina for his girlfriend. She didn’t want her brother to know she was living in his flat during his absence. Max convinces Sabrina of his sincerity to change but a spanner is thrown in the works when Lauren reappears back on the scene. She claims she is homeless and desperate, and Max steals the salon's keys to allow her to stay overnight within the premises.
  • Ed and Ronnie finish their housing redevelopment at Tavern Mews. Ed and Aggie go for a Japanese tasting meal at the Chariot Square where they bump into their old snobbish neighbours from Wilmslow, Patrick and Yvette Leighton, who have no idea about their reduced circumstances. Not wanting them to see No.3, Tim and Sally offer the Baileys No.4 to show off as their temporary rental property, but the ruse backfires when the Leightons criticise the house in front of Sally. Yvette pushes Aggie to attend a charity auction she's organising for her snobby friends at the bistro to help the “deprived” people who live in Weatherfield. Both Sally and Dee-Dee dislike the way Yvette behaves at the auction, especially when she tries to force Aggie to buy an expensive summerhouse. Not knowing that Dee-Dee works at the solicitors, Yvette calls there to see Adam about her and Patrick’s dire financial situation, and Dee-Dee makes her mother’s erstwhile friend admit that like her parents, the Leightons have fallen on hard times.
  • The bistro is granted its late licence. Damon plans a launch party while still pursuing a semi-reluctant Sarah. Harry Platt sees them kissing. He tells Gail Rodwell who reprimands her daughter. Sarah tries to get Harry to lie and say nothing about what he saw but this only upsets the little boy further and he tells Adam. Sarah confesses all, and Adam confronts Damon at the launch party. He also sacks Dee-Dee when he finds out that she knew of the affair and packs and leaves the flat. Ken Barlow persuades him to give Sarah another chance and he does so. Although their relationship is more distant, he accepts his wife is sincerely trying to repair the damage she's done. Dee-Dee is reinstated. After a row between Sarah and Damon in front of bistro customers, Nick asks him to leave but Damon convinces him that he has genuine feelings for his sister. Unable to cope with Damon’s presence in the area, Adam finds out about Niall and meets up with the gangster to convince him that Damon is about to tell the police about his activities. When Damon is informed, he panics and hurriedly leaves the area. Soon afterwards, Sarah discovers she is pregnant and admits to Adam that Damon might be the father. He demands a DNA test and struggles to cope with the news as they wait the results.
  • Owen is still interested in Jenny, and Stephen tries to put him off by saying she’s a bunny boiler. Wanting a fresh start in life, Carla announces she’s selling her share of the factory and Stephen is stunned when Owen is announced as the potential buyer. Owen and Jenny discover that Stephen has been trying to keep them apart and Owen makes it clear to Stephen that as soon as the sale has gone through, he is out of a job. Having moved into their new flat at 6 Redbank Apartments, Elaine refuses to provide the funds so that Stephen can buy the factory share himself and he attempts to kill her by substituting her blood pressure medication with high caffeine pills. She collapses unconscious and is left for dead by Stephen, however she manages to revive enough to ring an ambulance for herself. Tim has suspicions as to Stephen’s whereabouts while his mother was unconscious. Elaine backs up Stephen as he gives a plausible story and orders her son out when he drops hints that her life is in danger. Stephen pays the first instalment on the life insurance policy from Underworld funds using a cover firm named Seagull Limited. Owen grows suspicious when he sees the item in the books and Stephen concocts a story that they are a supplier of consultancy services. Owen doesn’t believe him, and Elaine overhears an argument between the two men in which Owen accuses Stephen of still having feelings for Jenny. Finding something strange about Stephen, Owen pulls out of the factory deal. Carla grows interested in who Seagull really are and asks Stephen to meet them. Elaine gets Stephen to join her at Thai Chi lessons.
  • With the roof work completed, No.1’s scaffolding is finally removed. Amy continues to be worried sick about the consequences on everyone of losing the legal action. Aaron is taken aback when he sees Summer’s home has been put up for sale along with the McDonalds' other assets. Amy gives in and writes a retraction which Aaron points out doesn’t make sense of what happened on the night. She invites him to compose it himself and in doing so, Aaron realises that he was the one at fault. He drops his legal action and he and Eric leave the area for good. Despite his departure, Amy continues to struggle as she is told she has to repeat a year at university and she finds solace in drink but comfort from Toyah Habeeb, who tells her of her own rape ordeal and gets her interested in counselling at a survivors’ charity.
  • Brian finds Isabella's presence, with her late-night ways, too much for him. She insults Rita when she tells her that Brian needs a younger assistant, and he is only able to keep her services with both a pay rise and a work reduction. Isabella also upsets Jenny with her complaints about the Rovers’ service and spirit measures. Roy encourages Brian to find more friends for Isabella to take the pressure off him, but a drinks get-together fails when she insults Evelyn. When her Italian flat repairs are delayed, he suggests she goes on a tour of northern seaside towns and is aghast when he realises that she expects him to accompany her.
Episode 10991

A bitter reunion.

  • Evelyn is utterly thrown when Tyrone’s mother and her drug-addicted daughter Cassie Plummer turns up on the street. She has spent various periods over the years secretly trying to help wean her daughter off her addictions. Evelyn hides her identity from everyone. When Cassie begs for help again, Evelyn agrees. She asks Roy for a loan so she can put Cassie into rehab, however when he agrees she accidentally reveals that she read the letter Roy wrote for her before his heart operation. The two fall out, and Evelyn refuses the loan. Having failed to raise the money, Evelyn decides to put Cassie through cold turkey herself and leaves with her, telling everyone she is going to care for friend James Woodgate for a while.
  • Kevin returns from sorting out his father’s affairs in Germany.

July[]

  • The Thai Chi lessons, hosted by Gerry Northrop, become permanent at the community centre. Elaine begins to socialise with him and introduces him to Sally who with Ed, Tim and Steve, joins the lessons. Stephen grows alarmed that he might lose her and her money.
  • Stephen pays Gabrielle to pose as a representative of Seagull in a video call with Carla. She is taken in by the ruse. Elaine catches a glimpse of Gabrielle on Stephen's laptop when she walks into the flat and is told that it’s a client called Claire. He forges a suicide letter from Elaine and begins to gaslight about her mental state to the people around her. Wanting to isolate her, he tries to keep the breach going between her and Tim but is thwarted when Tim apologises to him to please his mother. Elaine catches sight of Stephen pulling a face at her behind her back and worries that his love for her is a sham. He discovers there is a clause in the life insurance policy that will prevent a payout until twelve months after a suicide. He instead plans a hiking accident in the Peak District but on the eve of departure Elaine catches sight of a family photograph of Stephen with his ex-wife and sees that it’s “Claire”. Realising that he has been lying to her she grows afraid that he is showing some of the same behavioural patterns as Geoff Metcalfe. She runs to Tim for help, and he finds both the insurance policy and the forged suicide letter. Elaine leaves Stephen and Tim confronts his mother's fiancé. A fight results in Stephen’s being hospitalised for a possible bleed on the brain. Audrey refuses to believe the allegations Tim makes against her son. Stephen drops all charges against Tim and tries to talk Elaine into returning to him, but she has had enough and goes to stay with a friend in Scarborough, rejecting Gerry’s advances in doing so. Tim evicts Stephen from the flat, but Elaine sends a message that she wants him to remain as a rent-paying tenant.
  • Ryan returns to work at the bistro, but his confidence is shot when a mother hosting a children's party complains that his scarring scares her charges. Even a wine merchant being friendly towards him makes no difference. Carla persuades him to visit Michelle Connor in Ireland. When he returns, he is in a far better frame of mind and determined to get back in shape again. Carla is pleased but is unaware that he is injecting steroids to help his bodybuilding. Ryan makes his peace with Daisy. A proud Carla uploads body images of Ryan to social media. He is angry with her until he is shown the complementary comments that he is getting online.
  • The contest raises almost £800 for Paul. He feels like a charity case and further arguments between Billy and Bernie about religion cause him to flee the event with the cash. He bumps into ex-boyfriend Zak Mayers at the Chariot Square where the two decamp to a room. However, Paul feels guilty about cheating on Billy, and they get drunk instead. During the night Zak flees with the cash. Paul confesses to Billy about what has happened, but everyone is surprised when Zak returns the cash having read about the contest in the paper and realising that he was stealing from a dying man. Although hurt, Billy apologises to Paul for adding to his pressures. Paul agrees to get baptised. He goes to a support group meeting where he meets fellow sufferer Shelly Rossington. Talking to her makes him realise that he wants to end his life at a time of his choosing. Billy is horrified when Paul asks him to help him in that aim when the time comes. Billy confesses that he was expecting a proposal and Paul acquiesces while dropping the euthanasia plan. They celebrate their engagement with friends and family.
  • Constant financial problems and childcare pressures, coupled with Paul’s diagnosis, makes Gemma depressed. Dr Gaddas prescribes anti-depressants. Bertie swallows some while an exhausted Gemma tries to sleep when she is looking after him. Daniel is forgiving but Beth is furious at the risk her great-nephew was exposed to, and she reports Gemma to social services. They threaten her with a fine for being an unregistered childminder but back down when she expresses her remorse, nevertheless that source of income comes to an end. Unable to afford proper food, Gemma approaches Henry Newton at Jenny’s suggestion to see if he can offer any work, though Chesney isn’t pleased. Kirk reminds Beth of what she suffered with Sinead Osbourne’s death and Beth apologises to Gemma which leads to her and Kirk being reconciled.
  • The Rovers hosts a pub quiz where Stu feels like a dunce as Roy and Yasmeen answer all the questions between them.
  • Sarah sees that Adam has trust issues with her. He is alarmed when he hears that Niall has been arrested for killing a local gangster, until he discovers that the victim wasn't Damon. Sarah finds out how he got his rival out of the way. Adam starts to suffer panic attacks with the pressure of not knowing if the baby is his. Being present at a scan makes him realise how much he wants to be the father. Sarah lies to him that the clinic has phoned through the DNA result and that the baby is his, but she throws the real unopened letter into a bin in Victoria Street. Although she tries to prevent him saying anything to the two families, he happily announces the DNA result to them. However, he continues to suffer the panic attacks and for his own peace of mind asks the clinic to send the results in writing. Sarah intercepts it but also finds that Stephen has retrieved the original letter - which states that Damon is the baby's father - from the bin for reasons of his own. Trying to make excuses for his behaviour, Stephen produces a forgery which declares Adam to be the father. Adam organises a surprise gender reveal party for Sarah at the bistro but when he asks the clinic for the sex of the baby, they refuse since he isn't the baby's father causing him to realise the truth. Furious that Sarah was willing to let him raise a baby that wasn't his, he humiliates her in front of their families when he asks her to open the box of balloons and instead of blue or pink, a single balloon declares Damon to be the father. Telling Sarah that they are finished, he moves out of the flat.

Toyah and Spider face death.

  • Spider is warned by his handler that he is being followed and they wonder if it is someone from Griff’s gang. He accepts a different placement down south and proposes to Toyah. Although finding out about the danger he is in, she accepts. Soon afterwards, she receives a visit from a woman claiming to be Layla, Spider's ex-wife, but in reality, she is Maggie, the widow of a drug dealer who was murdered while on bail after Spider had convinced him to testify against his colleagues. She kidnaps Toyah to lure Spider into meeting her, with the intention of killing Toyah in order that he knows what it feels like to be bereaved. He turns up wearing a bulletproof vest which saves his life when Maggie shoots him. She is knocked out and arrested. The incident changes Toyah’s mind towards the danger of his job and she asks him to give up the police. When he refuses, the two split up and Spider leaves the area.
  • Lauren lures Max into visiting her father on remand in Highfield Prison as he wants him to give a false statement to help him at his sentencing. Max refuses. David and Shona are not pleased to find him with Lauren but allow her to stay overnight when they find out that she is homeless. Sabrina finishes with Max when she finds him helping Lauren. Reece is sentenced to 18 years. Max tells a distraught Lauren that she can rely on him when she tells him she now has no one in the world.
  • A bored Aadi arranges for Amy to take over some of his shifts at the corner shop. Asha and Nina realise he fancies her. Dev’s golfing buddy and local entrepreneur Darren Vance gives Aadi a job as his right-hand man. Dev is pleased as he wants in on a deal that Darren is working on to buy a Freshco outlet and tells Aadi to keep Darren happy. Aadi succeeds in getting his father in on the deal and Dev remortgages everything he has to raise the capital. Aadi is disappointed when he’s treated as an errand boy, running Darren’s wife Courtney around. She takes a fancy to the youngster and flirts with him. Amy is shocked when she walks in on them about to have sex. On a pretext, Courtney gets Aadi to the Chariot Square where she seduces him in one of the bedrooms. Dev hears rumours that the Vance’s have marital problems. Amy tells Courtney what she thinks of her, but the woman is unfazed and continues to have flings with Aadi. Dev almost catches them in the act at No.7.
  • Nick makes contact with Damon who signs over the bistro’s late licence to him.
  • Brian and Isabella return from their trip and he is aghast when she plans another similar excursion. Isabella catches Brian on the phone to her builder, asking when the work will be finished and cries that he wants rid of her. Mary steps in and tells her that she and Brian are in love, and he's asked her to move in with him. Convinced by the ruse, Isabella leaves. Rita realises Brian does indeed have genuine feelings for Mary, but he finds that he's unable to be upfront with her.
  • Dev is ashamed to realise he has missed marking the tenth anniversary of Sunita Alahan’s death. He organises a family meal which Bernie and Paul join. Trying to make her son believe in the afterlife, Bernie tries to convince the sceptical Alahans that Sunita’s spirit is constantly hovering over them. When Dev labels her beliefs a superstition, she surreptitiously turns a photograph of Sunita to face one of the twins.
  • Todd is nominated for the Young Funeral Director of the Year award. An interview to decide if he should be declared the winner makes him realise that he really wants to make a future for himself in the industry. Rival Troy Soyer tries to poach Todd after he wins the award, but unknown to Todd, George sabotages the attempt by stealing the business card that Troy left in Todd's unattended jacket. However, he does give Todd a pay rise.
  • Jenny confides in Daisy that she's struggling to manage her bills at the Rovers.
  • Eliza is upset when Bridget is moved to a prison in the North East. Stu gives her a new tablet to keep in touch with her mother.

August[]

  • Adam moves into the corner shop flat. As he and Sarah row, she is hit by a sudden pain and is rushed to hospital where the baby is declared dead. Adam softens in his attitude towards her but still wants a divorce as he can no longer trust her. She agrees to Harry being shared under a co-parenting agreement. Struggling to cope, Adam returns to his womanising ways.
  • Dev is furious with Bernie when he catches her moving more photographs, but when he calms down he realises that she has a need to believe that her son's spirit will live on. Paul tells her that he will try and be more open-minded for her sake and undergoes one of her therapy sessions. Enthused, she obtains an old massage table and Todd is her first client. Although it collapses underneath him, it does cure a recurrent back pain.
  • Without telling Chesney that it’s working with Henry, Gemma attends a Newton & Ridley cider launch. Jenny rejects Owen's advice to sell the Rovers to the brewery and dumps him when he hints to Glenda that she should pay more rent. Attempts to put up the bar prices and reduce the food portions fail. After boycotting the pub because of the price rises, the residents begin a crowdfunding initiative when they realise the seriousness of the situation. Jenny gives in when the oven has to be replaced and contacts Philip Newton. He and son Henry attend a Rovers party night which is successful until the booked singer has an angina attack. Philip lavishes salacious attention upon Glenda but stalks out when he overhears her labelling him a “dirty old perv”. Gemma steps in and asks Henry to help save the Rovers. A jealous Chesney punches Henry when he sees them together but asks for his forgiveness, telling him about Gemma's struggles over Paul's condition. Henry agrees to Gemma’s request if she works for him as his PA at the brewery. Chesney gives his reluctant blessing and Jenny is delighted that the pub is saved. Philip is not impressed by his son’s latest recruit.
  • Stephen panics when Rufus’s widow Lou Donahue goes to the papers with her suspicions of foul play over her husband's death. The inquest returns a verdict of death by misadventure. Stephen has feelings of guilt when he is introduced to Rufus’s grief-stricken son at his father's memorial service and is further unnerved when Lou shows him his own tie pin that he unwittingly dropped while killing Rufus and which she has just collected from the police. Lou encourages Carla to stick with Underworld. Peter is rattled when he discovers that Lou thinks Rufus's killer took his watch and confesses to Carla how he sold it, using the money to pay for her residential clinic. She demands he make amends. Peter makes inquiries about getting the watch back which Stephen learns of and puts two and two together. He rats on Peter to Lou who tells Carla that their business relationship is over once the current contract is finished. In the meantime, as the police decides to investigate the tie pin, Stephen manages to steal it from Lou and throws it down a grate before anyone can recognise it, although Lou suspects him of the theft. Carla finds out from Lou that the symptoms of taking LSD were identical to what she suffered in February and suspects someone of drugging her. Although Roy thinks her psychosis is returning, he does tell her that a laboratory analysis of her hair will determine if she was drugged.

Debbie and Ronnie cash in with insider information.

  • Ed gives Gary some shifts at the yard. He and Ronnie decide to go into business together, trading as EdiRon Developments but Ed has doubts when Ronnie suggests a large development as their next project. Debbie gets wind that LS Waterford are planning a buyout of Newton & Ridley and persuades Ronnie to use their profits to invest in the brewery shares in expectation of a windfall. He does so behind his brother's back when he sees the difficult working conditions that Aggie has to put up with at the hospital. Preventing Dee-Dee from having access to the new firm’s books, Ronnie has to stall Ed from going after a plot of land upon which six houses could be built as their money is now tied up. Unaware of his brother's intentions, Ed tries to speed things up by asking a surveyor he knows to look over the land.
  • Stu's jealousy of Roy and Yasmeen’s friendship increases. Alya suggests he takes an interest in her gran’s hobbies, but Yasmeen misinterprets his gift of art classes and thinks it’s for her and Roy to attend between them. Alya again has to step in when Yasmeen says that Stu’s jealousy reminds her of Geoff’s manipulation, and she manages to reconcile the couple.
  • Eliza uses her tablet to make contact with her estranged father, Dom Everett. Bridget makes it clear that she wants Dom to have no contact with her daughter. When Stu threatens him with the police, he sees a solicitor about access. A mediation meeting goes badly, but Stu gets Bridget to agree that Eliza can see her father. Zeedan takes Yasmeen to Pakistan to celebrate her 70th birthday.
  • Shona persuades Roy to give Lauren a trial shift at the cafe which initially has mixed results though she acquits herself well when dealing with a complaining Beth. She is jealous when she sees Max and Sabrina are back together but is pleased when she discovers that he's refused to cut her out of his life while she needs help. Misreading the situation, she tries to kiss Max who pulls away from her. Deciding to leave the area, Roy persuades her to stay but once more Lauren mistakes kind motives and thinks Roy wants sex in exchange for a roof over her head. Thoroughly embarrassed she decides to leave both her job and No.8 though she changes her mind about the cafe and steals the keys to the salon before departing the Platt's house. Max passes his GCSE's.
  • Glenda puts on Little Big Shotz’s Summer Spectacular where Ruby Dobbs is granted the solo spot. Evelyn returns for the show. With Cassie’s recovery not yet confirmed, but Evelyn not wanting to take any more advantage of James’s hospitality. She rents a precinct flat for the two of them. Impatient to meet her extended family, Cassie breaks free of Evelyn’s control and attends Glenda’s show. Tyrone is staggered when she walks up to him and reveals her true identity. He feels betrayed by both his mother and grandmother for the lies which they have told him. Cassie spins Tyrone a story containing some half-truths about her past which leads him to invite her to move into No.9 to get to know her better. Evelyn fears that Cassie is using again and will take advantage of her trusting grandson. Cassie is indeed continuing to take pregabalin and is roughed up by dealer Dean Turnbull when she tries to obtain further supplies from him. Michael and Ronnie have to intervene to help her, but Cassie begs them to say nothing to anyone about the matter. She and Tyrone try to establish a relationship with each other, but she takes offence when he invites the Websters for dinner and she discovers that Abi is a recovering addict herself. Tyrone is annoyed when his mother gets drunk in the Rovers with Dev and Kirk and makes it clear that he expects better from her in front of the girls.
  • Ryan has mood swings from the steroids, and he suffers palpitations while running. Gary suspects he is on some form of drug while Carla thinks it’s an exercise addiction. With Peter and Carla having to pay Lou her money back, Ryan agrees to a rent rise. Hiding his facial injuries, a woman he chats to online suggests he could make money posting nude photos on a salacious website. Feeling rejected when Daisy moves in with Daniel to the builders' flat, he takes up the suggestion. Passing on the money he receives, he is stung by comments that he needs to bulk up and increases both his exercise regime and the steroid intake. An online comment criticising his scarring sends him over the edge and he attacks Carla. Peter threatens to evict him from the flat and only relents when Ryan breaks down sobbing. He makes a special video for an online gay man which he photoshops to hide his scars.
  • Todd handles his first corpse but finds the experience a queasy one. He discovers how George tried to prevent him being poached and in anger meets Troy who offers him a far better package to join Rest Easy. George and Todd fall out, but Todd is taken aback when Troy makes him use hard-sell techniques at a funeral. Both men are too proud to effect a reconciliation. George finds Mary an inadequate substitute for his lost apprentice.
  • Paul is forced into using a walking stick. He and Gemma celebrate their birthdays and Billy presents him with an engagement ring. Paul finds the attention at a celebration meal difficult to cope with and he takes a hyperactive Bryn Winter-Brown to the playpark where he falls to the ground and has to be helped up by a passing Peter. He finds Billy's attempts to anticipate his needs annoying. He tries to regain his independence by drinking alone, and going off to the Manchester Pride festival where he has to be rescued by three drag Queens when he falls again. He's further upset when he overhears Billy telling Todd that he only forgave him for getting together with Zac because of his illness. A chat with Shelly makes Paul see things differently and he and Billy enjoy a day out at a deserted lake where Paul makes the vicar go skinny-dipping with him. The two men book their wedding. Visiting Shelly with Bernie, Paul is taken aback when he finds his fellow sufferer buying laptops on credit to sell on that she knows cannot be paid back after she dies but which pay for her carers. Behind his back, Bernie offers to handle the sales for her.
  • Getting closer to Jenny, Stephen offers to take her to a wine tasting but they are waylaid into attending Lily's birthday party which Jenny enjoys. He helps her sign the paperwork to pass ownership of the Rovers to the brewery.
  • Sarah finds out from Tim about the deception Stephen played by making Gabrielle pose as a business consultant. She also finds out that a puzzled Audrey is receiving letters about the equity release on her house. Sarah investigates and discovers Stephen is behind it all. With Angelique Simmons buying the Nippersnapper business, Stephen begs his niece for time to obtain the funds from the deal to pay Audrey back. Losing all trust in her uncle, Sarah starts to keep a close eye on his activities.
  • Aggie goes to look after her Auntie Marcelle in Birmingham.

September[]

  • The news of the brewery takeover leaks out and Henry promises Jenny and Gemma that he will do everything he can to prevent it. In end, his father sells up, and the Rovers has a new owner who assures the staff that their jobs are safe, and no major changes are planned. Henry takes a severance package and Gemma loses her new job, also rejecting Henry’s declaration of love for her. Jenny gives her what few shifts at the pub that she can. The new firm installs wide screen televisions for sports, but their transmission of a County match fails, leaving the punters disgruntled.
  • When Ed puts in a bid for the development land, Ronnie has to confess that all of their money is tied up in the brewery shares. When the buyout occurs, the Baileys are in profit, but a guilty Ronnie puts Ed in charge of the company’s business account, not realising his brother is being tempted to gamble again. Michael invests his Nippersnapper money in the business. Ronnie grows concerned that his brother is gambling again. With the bid accepted, work begins. Ed snaps at Neil, the site manager, who is an inveterate gambler and tries to tempt him to place bets. With harmony restored between the two men, work continues until the digger unearths a dead body in the ground, bringing the site to a complete halt as the police investigate. Due to the delay, an investor pulls out and Ed places a bet on a horse to secure the needed funds. He wins but decides not to repeat the exercise, telling his family the money came from a loan.
  • Tim and Steve play jokes on each other with Steve changing Tim’s phone to the Turkish language and the ringtone to The Birdie Song.
  • Elaine decides to sell the flat and Stephen is homeless. Sarah prevents him using Nippersnapper money to buy a home, so Jenny invites him to move into the Rovers’ B&B room. They go on a break to Paris and return to the news of the body which is soon identified as being Leo’s. Jenny is both grief-stricken and utterly puzzled how a man supposedly in Canada can be found dead in Weatherfield. Tim suggests that the police interview Stephen who again manages to cover his tracks about his fall out with Leo and infers that Teddy could have killed his son. During the night, Stephen checks the canal where he dumped Teddy’s body. By chance, a hidden Tim is finishing a cab run and observes him, but he has to scarper when his Birdie Song ringtone shatters the quiet of the night. Stephen tries to find who has such a phone. Jenny is further perplexed when she cannot locate Teddy to tell him about Leo and reports him as missing to the police. Stephen is desperate to get her away from Weatherfield. Waterfords shock the staff when they declare the Rovers closed for refurbishment and all their contracts terminated without notice. Rita takes in Jenny and Stephen, and Jenny agrees to Stephen’s suggestion that they go on holiday to Thailand to get away from everything, especially when Waterfords refuse ever to employ her again as she emptied the pumps with free drinks on the pub’s last night. With work restarted on the development, Ronnie worries about Ed being able to handle the financial responsibility.
  • Tyrone gives Cassie a job manning the phones at the garage. Her old dealer, Dean Turnbull, pesters her for money that she owes him. Abi recognises him of old and prevents Cassie from raiding the garage’s petty cash to pay him. Instead, she threatens Dean with exposure to the police unless he leaves Cassie alone. Still desperate for a fix, Cassie buys drugs from Dean with money for Ruby’s birthday and overdoses, ending up in hospital. Unable to have her close to his girls, Tyrone asks her to leave, and Abi moves into the precinct flat to look after her, leaving Evelyn able to move back to No.9. The situation is reversed when Tyrone joins Cassie at Abi’s support group and is taken in by the lies she tells about how her mother threw her out of the family home when she was a vulnerable teenager, leading her to turn to prostitution. At his instigation, Cassie and Evelyn swap residences. Fiz approves of her living at No.9.
Episode 11055

Stu finds Dom Everett unbearable.

  • Dom finds out that Stu has come into a substantial amount of money. Stu embarrasses his granddaughter when he buys her sanitary products after she starts her periods. They are reconciled when Dom fails to collect her for a cinema trip and Stu and Alya have a film night with her at home instead. However, the next day they have a row and Eliza runs into the path of a speeding car, ending up in hospital with a fractured arm. Not seeing her father for the irresponsible man he is, she decides she wants to live with him and is unaware that Dom has asked Stu for £10,000 pounds to walk away from the situation. When Stu refuses, Dom takes Eliza in when she runs away and, after investigating, social services think it's best that she remains with her father for the moment. Stu is warned to be careful as courts favour parents over grandparents.
  • Tyrone’s car is stolen but returned having been involved in some form of accident. Ange Carlisle from Stalwart Cabs negotiates a contract to have the garage service her fleet, not being put off when Cassie tells her that Abi is an addict as she is interested in prisoner rehabilitation as a charitable cause.
  • Bernie launders the laptops through Big Garth. Dev finds out but agrees to keep quiet as the money will benefit Paul’s care. Paul himself finds Shelly’s attitude towards her condition refreshing, though he worries for his friend as she deteriorates. Paul also finds out about the laptops but lets the matter ride when he’s told what the money is for. Falling badly when out on his own, he accepts that he now has to use a wheelchair. Shelly dies suddenly. Paul is given the news during his and Billy’s stag do and is devastated that the one person who understood what he is going through has now gone. He decides to once again pursue the assisted dying route, swearing Todd to secrecy when he tells him. In the meantime, he organises the funeral that Shelly would have wanted, and uses the money that Bernie raised from the laptop sales to pay for it. When Todd implores him to change his mind about suicide, Paul checks out assisted dying for himself. The police discover the laptop fraud and interview Bernie. The funeral descends into chaos when Shelly’s jealous brother Kieran Rossington brawls with Paul over his takeover of the arrangements. Paul finds the service an ordeal but is happy that he felt Shelly’s spirit among them and looks forward to his wedding.
  • Max starts at college, but he quickly grows disillusioned at his media course, wanting to quit and do some form of apprenticeship instead. David makes him take up hairdressing at the salon. Lauren is jealous when she sees him and Sabrina together and lies to Sabrina that she was thrown out of No.8 when David caught them in bed together. After Gav confronts Max for messing his sister around, Max convinces Sabrina of the truth, leading Lauren to trash the salon in a drunken rage when she sees a picture of the two of them on Sabrina's socials. David reports her to the police, but she is let off with a caution. After spending a couple of nights at a B&B, an arrangement is reached whereby she moves into Evelyn’s precinct flat with the rent paid from a second call centre job she’s just obtained. Evelyn moves in with Roy and Nina moves in with Asha.
  • Dee-Dee meets Lauren’s duty solicitor Joel Deering who takes a fancy to her. Although liking him, she is oblivious to his feelings, and he dances around rather than ask her out direct. Seeing the situation going nowhere, Adam engineers a successful date between them.
  • Aadi and Courtney continue their clandestine affair. Dev and Darren complete their Freshco deal and organise a celebratory meal where Darren gets drunk and, suspecting Courtney of an affair, accuses Dev in front of everyone. To protect his father, Aadi confesses to being the other man. He insists that she stays at No.7 after Darren kicks her out and begins divorce proceedings. To add to his woes, Dev is told by Darren that their business partnership is over. Despite Courtney now having no income, she and Aadi plan to live together. They’re offered Shelly’s flat but struggle to raise the deposit. Darren gives Dev £5,000 to pass on to his estranged wife, saying it’s conditional on her leaving Aadi but the wily woman tells Aadi it’s a gift from his father to use as a deposit and other treats. A furious Darren demands that Dev return his money.
  • Todd continues to find the ruthless strategies of Rest Easy difficult to cope with. He approaches George for his old job back only to find that he has employed Lee, a gormless monosyllabic youngster in his place. Despite his annoyance, Todd steps in to help Lee out when he locks himself out of the hearse, though George mistakes his actions and thinks he's up to his old tricks.
  • With his online subscribers falling off, Ryan takes up Carla's suggestion that he works at Underworld but on his first day he rushes back to the flat to stream a live sex video to someone offering him £500 for it. A troubled Daisy finds out what he’s doing. His identity is exposed when the face filter he is using malfunctions leading his client to identify him on social media and the Gazette publicising his activities. Carla alerts Michelle but Ryan states he finds his profession empowering. With Lou paid off, Ryan moves out of the flat and into Lauren’s spare room. Daniel helps him with the move and finds the steroids in his belongings. Ryan agrees to give a talk at the STC about victims of violence.

  • Billy and Paul are married in a civil service at the bistro, and Paul surprises Billy with a religious service at his church after he finds a vicar who will marry them. They are discovered when Summer accidentally leaves a Polaroid snapshot of the service behind. Billy is suspended when he gives an interview on Radio Weatherfield attacking his own church for their views on gay marriage. A group of Billy's parishioners offer him their support. Paul sees how his own condition is affecting his husband and promises to support him as much in the future. He begins to use a wheelchair.
  • Furious at his father’s bribe, Aadi vandalises the kebab shop door window. The police are called in by Chesney, but Aadi mistakenly blames his father for contacting them. They are totally estranged, even when the truth is revealed. With no income, Aadi pushes Courtney to go job hunting with him at Freshco, but she finds various excuses to go out clothes shopping instead. Dev attempts to make his peace with Aadi but messes up badly when Courtney overhears him labelling her a freeloader.
  • Mason Radcliffe, a local ne'er do well and school friend of Dylan and Liam, confesses to them that he stole the car that hit Eliza but threatens them into silence. He makes the boys try vapes and an asthmatic Liam is hospitalised. Frightened of Mason's threats, Liam plays truant, feigning sickness.
  • Tyrone's stolen car is returned, and Stu recognises it as the one that hit Eliza. Tyrone asks Cassie where she was on the day of the hit and run. Roy provides her with an alibi, but she begins drinking in anger at being suspected. Finding her paralytic in Victoria Gardens, Kevin lets her sleep it off overnight in No.13. Cassie begins to fall for Kevin.
  • Yasmeen returns from Pakistan and finds out that Eliza is no longer living with them. She counsels Stu to be less confrontational with Dom. Behind her back, Stu employs a private investigator to find out what she can about Dom's fitness to be a parent.
  • Ken celebrates his birthday but is puzzled by presents of model railway memorabilia until Daniel reveals that he spotted a magazine in No.1 on the subject which Ken tells him was delivered to the house by mistake.
  • Tim panics when he forgets his wedding anniversary. Elaine returns to the area.

The end of the road for Stephen.

  • Jenny agrees to Stephen’s suggestion that they live in Thailand permanently. Carla’s test results prove that she was spiked with LSD. A passing remark from Michael about the coffee-making rota makes her realise that Stephen was responsible. After confronting him, she tells the police who are unable to take any further action but make it clear that Stephen is already on their radar. Stephen overhears their conversation and realises the danger he is in. He further panics when he hears Tim’s ringtone and realises that he was the one by the canal. Tim witnesses Stephen’s disquiet when he hears that volunteers are wanted to clean the waterway and makes a trip back there where he finds Teddy’s body and rings the police, but Stephen has followed him and overwhelms him in a brutal fight, locking him up in the boot of his own taxi in Medlock Woods. The police find Teddy’s body. In the meantime, Carla has discovered that one-way tickets have been booked to Thailand and warns Jenny. Seeing the net closing in on him, Stephen wants to bring forward the trip but a suspicious Jenny refuses. He dupes Michael into emptying the Underworld account into his own and is about to flee but Sarah has at last told her gran about the equity release on her house and she confronts her son. He claims being abandoned by her when he was a boy made him the man he is. He tries to flee but Jenny has stolen his passport. He returns unobserved for the document where speculation is rife that he murdered both the Thompkins’ men and Rufus. Jenny finds him hiding out in the boarded-up Rovers. With a broken bottle as a weapon, he uses her as a hostage to try and get away, but just as he lets her go saying he would never hurt her, Peter speeds up in his taxi and knocks him down dead. Audrey, although admitting her son’s faults, grieves for him and accuses Peter of killing him.
  • Sally and Elaine are frantic about the missing Tim. After two days, he manages to escape from the car and uses his old cab radio to contact Street Cars. Peter picks up the signal and the police are alerted to search for him. Whilst at the station, DS Swain overhears a conversation between Gail, Sally and Peter in which Sally remarks that Stephen had dropped the bottle when Peter drove at him. Tim flags down a passing car and is taken to hospital suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. Recovering, he starts to suffer constant flashbacks to his ordeal though he hides the extent of his suffering from his loved ones. He almost crashes his cab when Beth is his passenger and, exhausted, he falls asleep behind the wheel. Elaine leaves Weatherfield again. After initially refusing the request from Audrey, George agrees to handle the funeral. Tim vows to disrupt it and blocks the hearse with his cab. He only gives way when he realises that his action isn’t making him feel any better. He’s outraged to find out that Sally accompanied Gail to the crematorium as moral support and packs his bags to leave her. On the threshold, he breaks down and confesses to his wife about the nightmares that he’s suffering. At Sally’s request, Steve takes Tim fishing and the two men open up about their personal struggles.
  • Peter is arrested for murdering Stephen. He is outraged when his family profess more sympathy for Audrey than for him. Carla is unable to offer him her full support as she needs to rescue her business and flies to Spain to see a client who is threatening to pull out of a deal. Jenny admits to Rita that Stephen told her he would never hurt her just before he released her. Rita passes this information on to Audrey to comfort her, but she then passes it on to the police as further proof that Peter murdered her son. Questioned again, he points out that he didn’t hear anything said as he was in his cab. The police drop the matter, much to Peter’s surprise, but he struggles to cope with knowing that he took the life of someone who didn’t need to die. He goes to an AA meeting and assures his worried family that he’s not going to start drinking again but Ken has doubts. Audrey stops her action against Peter when Ken tells her that he’s afraid that he’ll lose his son to drink if the pressures on him continue.
  • In front of a customer, George accidentally calls Lee by Todd’s nickname for him of “Lurch”. His feelings hurt, the lad resigns. George struggles to cope with the workload by himself. Paul engineers a meeting between the two men where Todd confesses how unhappy he is with his present employer and George takes him back on and promotes him to junior partner.
  • Michael is sacked for losing Carla’s money. Seeing how depressed he is, Ronnie suggests to Ed that they give him £2,000 cash each. Ed doesn't have the funds and quietly offers his son only Ronnie’s £1,000 but the gesture is rejected. Another investor pulls out of the development. Dee-Dee is keen for her father to meet Joel and they set up a lunch at the bistro. Ed inadvertently meets Joel beforehand when his card is rejected in the cafe and the lawyer steps in to pay for his coffee. Joel doesn't reveal what's happened to Dee-Dee. Joel pays for the meal and finds another potential investor for the development. Ed resents Joel’s largesse and takes a dislike to the well-meaning young man. A bank sends a letter to Norris Cole at No.3 offering easy credit and Ed accepts using Norris's name. He also places a bet using the £1,000 which wins, netting him £6,000 in cash. He hides it quickly in Michael’s bag which his son picks up in short order and takes to Underworld where he goes to plead for his reinstatement. There, a visiting DS Swain asks to speak to him again about the theft from the accounts and spots the cash. He is arrested and taken for questioning, forcing Ed to confess to the bet and leading Ronnie to find out that his brother is gambling again. Acting as Michael’s solicitor, Joel also finds out about Ed’s addiction. The business relationship between Ed and Ronnie is strained, and Ed has to threaten Ronnie with reporting him for insider trading when Ronnie says Aggie ought to be informed of the gambling. The two men sign up the new investor, but Ed feels he is being pushed out by Ronnie and is again tempted by gambling. Dee-Dee talks Sarah into reinstating Michael.
  • Ryan’s talk at the STC is a huge success. In front of Daisy, he badly overreacts when accidentally sprayed with pop by Gav. Astonished by his behaviour she finds out about the steroids and convinces him that the man who gave the talk is the real Ryan and not some “juicehead”. He closes his livestream account. He and Daisy grow closer and have sex, though she almost immediately regrets the act. Things grow uncomfortable when the two of them both begin work at the bistro, but they get worse when Lauren works out that they have had a fling and blackmails Ryan for £1,000 pounds to pay off someone who is pressuring her for money. Ryan considers moving back in with Carla, but Lauren won't let him, unable to pay the flat bills herself. Daisy warns her to keep away but instead she gets Daniel to give her one-to-one tutoring, wanting to re-sit her GCSE’s. Daniel suggests to Daisy that he sells Denise's house and buys Elaine's flat. She isn't keen. Ryan reports Lauren for being underage when he finds out that she too is making porn videos. Daisy gets Lauren to back down on her blackmailing and admits to Ryan that she wants to be with him. Daniel grows suspicious of the closeness between the two.
  • Nick is worried about Sam's reaction when Leanne organises a Halloween party at the bistro, but his son has no problems and books a table for himself and Hope at the event where they agree to restart their relationship.

November[]

  • With no money coming in, Dylan helps his dad by taking on a paper round. Mason makes him play truant and tries to make him organise a party in George’s house when he hears that it might be empty for a few days. When that falls through, Mason orders him to find an alternative and Dylan suggests the empty Rovers, but Sean and George are alerted by the noise and Sean finds his son about to have sex with a girl. Mason threatens Dylan to pay another friend the £20 bet they had that Dylan wouldn’t succeed in having sex. Sean sells some designer trainers to be able to afford another pair for Dylan. Mason orders Dylan to sell vapes for him. When Sean finds out that he’s tried to sell one to Hope, he soaks his son’s supply in the sink. Mason demands his new trainers as compensation for the loss. When Sean sees that they’re missing, Dylan claims they were taken at school and Mason sets up Liam as the thief when Sean makes a complaint to Mrs Crawshaw. Gary realises Mason is involved and threatens him, leading to Mason bombarding Liam with threatening texts. When Mason and his gang cover Liam with litter, Mason tries to film his tears and pulls a knife on the lad when he attempts to knock the phone out of his hand. A worried Jake Windass reports him to the police and Mason is subjected to a stop and search, but he has passed the weapon on to Dylan and evades arrest but blames Liam again for ratting on him.
  • Daniel is suspicious when Daisy and Ryan arrange to spend the night at the Chariot Square Hotel and follows them there. They avoid him but Daisy has an attack of conscience and gets Christine to cover for where she was. Ryan admits to Daniel that he loves Daisy. Daniel promises her a new beginning with their own place. She resigns from the bistro to keep away from the temptation of being with Ryan. She is jealous when Crystal re-enters his life, after she watched his livestream and apologised for her behaviour.
  • Aadi is heartbroken when Courtney suddenly returns to Darren who tells the youngster in front of Nina that his wife gets bored, and he was just a diversion. Aadi begs Nina not to tell his sister, fearing that she’ll laugh at him. Dev comforts his son when he finds out what’s happened.
  • Sally is happy that Tim has his fishing hobby but is furious when his maggots escape in No.4.
  • Stu has to be reminded by Yasmeen that it’s best not confront Dom when he finds out that Eliza has been up late watching a horror film. He ignores her advice and makes a fool of himself when he calls in social services after disbelieving Eliza’s truthful story that she got a black eye at her Taekwondo lessons. Stu’s PI finds out that Dom once spent two nights in a German prison for a public order offence.
  • Nina grows jealous when Asha talks endlessly about her paramedic colleague Isla Gibbs. Asha is angry with Nina when she discovers that she withheld the news of her brother’s split from Courtney from her and, realising that her girlfriend is jealous of Isla, suggests that they all have a night out together. Aadi joins them but his sister is rude to him, and Nina feels sidelined by Asha and Isla’s constant conversation about work. In the days afterwards, Asha and Isla are constantly texting each other. Nina claims she’s out seeing college friends, but she is hiding that her mates are bailing on her. Admitting to her jealousy, Nina agrees to another night out with Asha and Isla to allay her fears.
  • Toyah goes with Peter to AA meetings as he struggles to cope. Carla returns from Spain to find Ryan and Simon Barlow back living in her flat and Michael reinstated. She relents when his new designs impress a client. When Simon gives a new bottle of duty-free whisky that Carla bought to a friend as a belated birthday present without asking, Carla suspects Peter of drinking again until she’s told the truth. To keep the factory running, she has to lie to the staff that they will be paid when the police recover the money that Stephen stole although she’s been told that it’s gone for good. They down tools when they discover the truth and Sean and Beth apply for jobs elsewhere. Peter rallies the remaining staff and ropes Nina, Evelyn and Roy into helping get the new order completed. Peter is angry that Carla paid a bonus to Sean and Beth to get them to return. Carla firmly refuses Peter’s idea that they escape their troubles by working on his friend Mickey’s boat business in Majorca.
  • Billy’s suspension is lifted. Paul applies for a disability grant and prepares to use a voice box for when he can’t speak naturally anymore but finds out during the process that his prognosis is far shorter than previously thought. Paul is tired of Billy’s lack of intimacy, but Billy’s back goes when he tries to seduce him. The two men have to be rescued from their bathroom by an embarrassed Todd and Ed. Paul reveals to Billy that he went to church with Dee-Dee and was baptised. The police catch Bernie selling the laptops to Big Garth and arrest her for handling stolen goods. Forced to plead guilty, she is devastated to be told that she faces a six-month custodial sentence and might miss Paul’s last Christmas. The family organise an early celebration just in case she won’t be there on the day.
  • Joseph claims he’s ill and although Chesney doesn’t believe him, Gemma insists on taking him to the doctor and A&E, although nothing is found. Bernie suggests that Gemma gives him a lavender-infused tea to perk him up, but she accidentally poisons the boy with a tea with lavender oils in it. The suspicious hospital reports Gemma to the child protection agency.
  • Amy organises a drop-in centre for the counselling charity where she meets a woman who suffered an identical ordeal to her, and her own feelings of anger are reignited. Organising the women into joining an anti-spiking protest, she attacks Mason when he and his cronies provoke them. Outraged that the police let Mason go, she spray-paints their car and is arrested but let go by a sympathetic DS Swain. Amy neglects her studies to go to a nightclub, on the lookout for men spiking women’s drinks. There, she warns a woman off a man named Dan Morris who she saw slipping GHB in her drink, and then plays up to Dan herself in order to switch the drinks round. Dan overdoses and although Amy wants to dump him bound and gagged by a roadside, a summoned Aadi makes her do the right thing and take him to hospital. He also supports Amy’s story when DS Swain questions her. He apologises to Amy for not realising how much she was hurting. Charges against Amy are dropped when other women identify Dan as a sex pest. Amy can’t help but panic when Aadi tries to kiss her, and she is then disappointed when he declares that it’s better that they remain firm friends.
  • Needing money after Stephen’s theft, Audrey returns to work but has to admit that she’s too old now. She has to sell Trim Up North in order to buy back her house out of its equity release and David and Maria bicker constantly when they’re made joint managers of the salon.
Episode11121

The return of Ed's father adds a new dimension to his many troubles.

  • Ed carries out conversions of Paul’s flat in readiness for his condition and employs Tony Byrne, an old friend, to help him. He is forced to buy an expensive wendy house for Glory Bailey for Christmas. He receives the credit card in Norris’s name and continues his gambling activities, including trips to a Manchester casino. He lies to Michael when a letter addressed to Norris from the bank arrives at No.3. Paul’s disability grant is delayed, and Ed has no money to pay Tony. A payday loan put on a horse fails and Tony discovers that Ed has been gambling again but agrees to say nothing to his anyone. Ed’s troubles increase when his hyper-critical father Sarge Bailey comes to stay from Dominica, and Dee-Dee and Michael have to speak up for their father when he endlessly puts his son down. Sarge asks to borrow £2,000 from Ed and Ronnie to set up another food truck back home and his eldest son has to come up with reasons to delay handing over the money.
  • Waterfords change their mind and put the Rovers up for sale with the intention of interested buyers turning it into flats. The residents make it clear to Ronnie that they will not be pleased if he handles any such conversion job. After claiming she has lost interest in the pub, Jenny is suddenly determined to buy it back, but she struggles to obtain a bank loan.
  • Max provokes Lauren into continuing with her studies when he overhears her trying to back out. She claims she has a second job at a call centre but is seen out when she’s supposed to be in work, and also goes out dressed to the nines. She buys Max a watch, earning Sabrina’s ire until Lauren breaks down and explains she has no one in the world and only wanted a friend. Sabrina offers her the hand of friendship. Bernie discovers the cafe till is £80 short.
  • Simon tries to make money by buying a returns pallet but the only good items in it are vapes. Mason makes Dylan steal them while he distracts Simon. When an enraged Peter finds out that Dylan’s friend has been selling the stolen items, he calls at No.11 and kicks in the door when Dylan refuses to let him enter, grabbing the lad and threatening him. An equally angry Sean threatens Peter with the police and has to be calmed down by Carla. Alone with her, Peter breaks down and tells her that every waking moment is a torment to him. Dylan gets a part-time job at the kebab shop where Mason makes him sell the vapes as a sideline. Dylan is furious with Liam when Mrs Crawshaw overhears him asking about the vape selling and puts him in detention. Mason humiliates Liam when he refuses to handle further vape sales and he bunks off school to avoid his tormentor. George recognises that something is wrong and tells Liam about his own bullying experiences, advising him to confide in his mother about what is happening. Alerted by George, Gary asks Liam about Mason, but the scared lad insists they’re mates.
  • Craig’s CID secondment ends, and he returns to uniform.

December[]

  • Max returns the watch to Lauren, saying it's too generous a gift. Bernie tells Shona about the missing money and unable to get a straight answer from Lauren, fires her, only to find the missing money stuffed under the till drawer. Lauren refuses to return to the cafe. Receiving an expensive necklace, she boasts to Max and Sabrina that it's from her rich boyfriend.
  • Following the early family Christmas meal, Bernie is sentenced to three months in jail.
  • Ryan gets a job offer from a gym in Manchester, but he’s also tempted when Crystal offers to get him a residency at the club she's opening in Glasgow. He records a practice interview for the gym but also accidentally tapes a conversation between him and Daisy about their one-night stand. Simon finds it and passes it on to Daniel. Satisfied that Ryan will be out of their lives once he's moved to Glasgow, Daniel is perturbed to hear him talking about taking the gym job and tells them that Ryan is a steroid user. They rescind the job offer and Ryan soon works out that Daniel was behind it. Daisy’s guilt compels her to admit to Daniel about her and Ryan. He admits to spiking the job and harsh words are exchanged. He throws her out and she moves in with Jenny into Rita's flat. Carla intervenes between Ryan and Crystal when she finds out that he slept with Daisy and brings the two back together as Ryan decides to go to Glasgow. He leaves a saddened Daisy behind.
  • Gemma finds that she is under investigation and is told that she cannot live in the same house as Joseph and the quads or be with them unsupervised whilst the process is conducted. She sleeps on Paul’s sofa. Furious that her mother is in jail while Big Garth is scot-free, Gemma attacks his stock and has to be restrained by Chesney. He leaves her alone in No.5 while he deals with the market trader, and the social services investigator finds her there alone with the children. Chesney manages to convince her that it was a one-off situation.
  • The night out with Isla goes badly when Nina realises that Asha is ashamed of her job in a cafe. Isla admits to Asha that she's gone off men and is falling for a woman she knows. Suspecting she means her, she asks to be moved to another crew. Matters aren't helped when Nina reluctantly agrees to a suggestion from Shona that she sends her flirty texts in the name of someone called “Rob”. When Asha discovers about the deception, she's angry but is reminded that she also was very possessive in the early days of their relationship. The two girls make up.
  • Hope doesn't want Cassie at her birthday party, fearing a repeat of Ruby's three months earlier. To curry favour with her, Cassie let's Hope skip school and the two have nose studs fitted. Tyrone is livid when he finds out. He makes a deal with Hope that she has a nose ring in return for full school attendance and six months of good behaviour, thinking she’ll never manage it.
  • Evelyn grows concerned when she sees a man named Terry Fensley abusing his dog. He threatens her for interfering but without proof is unable to make a complaint about him. Instead, she kidnaps the dog from his van and brings it to No.9 to be looked after. Knowing Evelyn took his dog, Terry corners her in the corner shop, but she is rescued by Gary. After escaping, he punches Tyrone who is reluctant to make a complaint to the police as it will implicate his gran in the crime of dognapping. He changes his mind when Terry threatens him, and the man is arrested. Finding out the dog is from an expensive breed, Evelyn suspects Terry has used an illegal puppy farm.
  • Stu puts on a front of being amenable towards Dom but is disgusted when he is drunk when collects Eliza after Christmas drinks at work. Stu’s PI Discovers that Dom has a son in Germany and appears to be building bridges with a family he has there, pending a permanent move to the country. Stu offers Dom £10,000 in cash to go there and stay out of Eliza's life. Dom lies to his daughter that he has work in Germany over Christmas, and she can't go with him but has to stay at No.6. When the festive season is over and he texts his daughter to say he's staying in Germany, she is devastated, thinking she has driven him away. Feeling wretched, Stu tries to persuade Dom to return but he refuses. Stu comes clean to Yasmeen who is horrified at what he’s done but tells him not to say anything to the girl as they are now the only family she has.
  • The police give up trying to trace the money that Stephen stole, and they return his belongings to Audrey, including a journal. David reads it and discovers that Gail once had doubts about Sarah’s parentage. When brother and sister bicker, he tells her what he’s found out, causing a temporary breach between Sarah and Gail. Tired of the endless family bickering, Gail organises a family meal which includes a “nice box”, where everybody deposits kind things about each. The idea goes badly until Sam steps in and upbraids the arguing adults for behaving so childishly. Audrey reads the journal and realises from its comments that Stephen was never really a part of the family. After interviewing David nor Maria, she decides she wants neither of them to run the salon and returns there herself, but now in an administrative capacity.
  • Before his split with Daisy, Daniel briefly contemplates purchasing the Rovers for the two of them. Afterwards, Jenny borrows Stephen’s laptop and finds a password protected file on it which was last amended on the day he died. She is suspicious that it contains the details of where he put the stolen money, but the police say they don't have the resources to crack the password. Finding out about the journal, Daisy attempts to steals it and is helped when she sees Audrey bin the item and manages to retrieve it for her own use. Within it, she finds a clue to the password which reveals Stephen’s bank account and over £247,000 within it - enough to buy the Rovers outright. After some persuading, and hearing that the factory has gained a big new contract, Jenny agrees to Daisy’s suggestion to use the funds, on the condition that they eventually pay Carla back. They lie to the residents that they’ve obtained a bank loan. After being unnerved by the sale being conducted by a sealed bid, the offer is accepted, and the pub reopens in time for New Year's Eve.
  • Peter admits to Tim that he and Carla appear to be living separate lives and he finds living on the street unbearable. To reinforce his sobriety, he makes contact with the mother of his deceased liver donor. Carla accompanies him to one of his AA meetings where his she is shocked to discover the depths to which he thinks his life has sunk. Hearing that his mate Mickey would like Peter to take part in a round-the-world boat trip, she buys a one-way airline ticket for Peter to Bilbao to join the vessel there. He argues vehemently about going but realises he needs to get away to heal. The couple part company and he flies off to his new life.
  • Paul’s grant money to give to Ed comes through, but before the builder can do anything with it, Sarge assumes it's his loan and takes the cash. With Tony coming down heavy on him, Ed tries to flee to Birmingham to be with Aggie, but Tony prevents him and, punching him, demands that he hands over all the Christmas presents to be sold at a pawn shop, including the wendy house. Ed makes out to his family that the presents were stolen and that he was assaulted during the burglary. They rally round him but Sean and Izzy, feeling sorry for Glory, inadvertently buy the same wendy house from the pawn shop and Michael recognises it. The police view the shop’s CCTV footage which shows Ed handing it over. The family confront him and in a last desperate effort he gambles EdiRon’s money on a horse but loses. There is no option but to sell the yard and its flat and Ronnie ends their partnership. Michael refuses to have Ed in the house and he moves in with Dee-Dee at her flat, but they all agree to keep news of the disaster from Aggie.
  • Tyrone and the girls spend Christmas with Fiz in Norfolk. He asks his mother to take in Cassie on Christmas Day and she sets out to help Roy buy Evelyn her ideal present: a replacement copy of her favourite novel South Riding. With Roy's car on the blink, Cassie borrows a customer's Porsche that is in the garage until the New Year to take them there, but she scratches the vehicle on the journey. Roy recognises the car in the garage and tells Cassie that she must come clean about taking it, but she allows Kevin to think Abi caused the scratch when working on it.
  • Little Big Shotz runs a Christmas carol concert in Victoria Gardens where Joseph as a solo. The family has a video call with Bernie in prison on Christmas Day.
  • Tracy serves Tommy Orpington in the flower shop. His professional footballing career over, his financial situation has deteriorated, and he is now a painter and decorator.
  • Paul is given a new PA, Moses Ekundayo. Todd takes a fancy to him.

  • Bobby Crawford, a previously unknown son of Rob Donovan’s, dumps himself on Auntie Carla after his mother throws him out. His lazy good-for-nothing attitude grates on her and she gives him a week's trial at Underworld to try and make him less shiftless and pay his way. Simon moves in with Leanne.
  • Bethany Platt returns from London and falls straight into bed with Daniel. Trying to make up with Daniel, Daisy is devastated to see him with the unknown blonde.
  • Adam and Sarah find that they still have feelings for each other. Adam suffers another panic attack.
