Conor Ryan (born 1973 in Wythenshawe) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in March 1995 as PC King, who arrested Sean Skinner on suspicion of robbery; and he returned to the programme between November 2008 and August 2009 as the better-remembered Len Windass.
Prior to entering the acting profession, he was a psychiatric nurse at Withington Hospital for several years and is a prolific fundraiser for UK charity Leukaemia Research. Sadly, both of Conor's parents died in the year before he landed the role of Len Windass, but as a fitting tribute, he was able to wear his dad's sheepskin coat throughout his time in the show.
His other credits include roles in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Kavanagh QC, The Bill, Spooks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, The Courtroom, Emmerdale, Heartbeat, Doctors, Hollyoaks and Shameless, along with the 2019 film My Very Own British Invasion.
He was chosen to sing and play guitar at the world famous Royal Albert Hall in London in December 2009. He performed John Lennon's Happy Xmas (War Is Over) backed by a full choir and orchestra to a sold-out crowd in aid of Leukaemia Research.
