Comptons

Comptons was a baker's shop which opened in May 2005 at 18 Victoria Street. During the first month of trading, owner Diggory Compton discovered that there were mice in the property and enlisted Keith Appleyard's help to get rid of them. Soon afterwards came a failed sandwich delivery service, the offloading of unsold cream cakes to Underworld staff and formal notification of a rent increase.

In a last-ditch attempt to save the business, he agreed to daughter Molly's suggestion of making pizzas. Despite Molly and her then-boyfriend Tyrone Dobbs working for free doing late night deliveries, Comptons ceased trading in July 2006 and Diggory left the area to open a new branch in Chorlton.
