Colwyn Bay is a town and seaside resort on the northern coast of Wales.

In July 1961, Alf Roberts offered Frank and Ida Barlow charabanc tickets to the resort for the coming August bank holiday and the hard-working couple chose to have their first real holiday for many years there instead.

Almost four decades later, in May 1999, the Platts and the Websters vacationed at the Happy Days Holiday Park near to the resort, and were horrified to be joined by Les and Janice Battersby when their car broke down near the camp.

In February 2000, a besotted Amy Goskirke, an ex-girlfriend of Dev Alahan, and an unbalanced fantasist, claimed she had attempted suicide in the resort in an effort to gain sympathy and win Dev back. He exposed her lies to the residents of the street and she disappeared from all their lives for good.
