Colin Rothwell was the landlord of the Weatherfield Arms where Cilla Brown worked as a barmaid. Cilla was generous in handing out free drinks behind Colin's back to her friends but when Ciaran McCarthy held his stag night there with Les Battersby as an invitee, she went too far with her largesse and Colin sacked her. A row ensued in which Colin called Cilla a thief who had been ripping him off for weeks whereas she took this statement with her usual quiet graciousness. Colin took umbrage and threw the entire stag party out. They left chanting, "Justice for Cilla!" as they went.
