Colin Edward George (born 20th September 1929 in Pembroke, Wales; died 15th October 2016 in Barnet, London) appeared on Coronation Street between August and September 1974 as southern property developer and family man, Jimmy Graham, who had a short-term romance with Rita Littlewood.

Studying English at Oxford University, he graduated in 1952 and with a group of aspiring actors, created the Oxford and Cambridge Players. He worked mainly in rep for the next decade, prior to being appointed Assistant Director of the Sheffield Playhouse and founding the Crucible Theatre in that city in 1971. Following a long spell working in Australia and Hong Kong, Colin returned to the UK in 1993.

His other credits included roles in The Hanged Man, Poldark, Ladykillers, Soldier Soldier, Afterlife and Doctors, along with the films Shadow of China, Once Upon a Time in China and Passage.

On stage, he appeared in Julius Caesar, Anne Boleyn, Happy as Larry, The Lady's Not for Burning, Coriolanus, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The Emperor's New Clothes, Henry V, The Outcast, Slave of Truth, The Beaux' Stratagem, Lizard on the Rock, The Iron Harp, The Alchemist, School and The Teahouse of the August Moon for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, The Man with the Golden Arm, The Rape of the Belt, Celebration, A Cry of Players, The Survivors, A Man for All Seasons, The Merchant of Venice and Oedipus the King for the Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company and Peer Gynt, Measure for Measure, Redskin, Les Enfants Du Paradis, The Tempest and Exit With Trumpets for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include Twelfth Night, Caesar and Cleopatra, Foursome Reel, The Real McCoy, The Stirrings in Sheffield, The Persians, Peace In Our Time, Calamity Jane, Sleuth and Othello.

The actor experienced one of the first cases of public outrage at the behaviour of a fictional character - often approached in public by angry Coronation Street fans.
