Chris Trenton is the father of Sam Trenton. When Liz McDonald took Amy Barlow to her music lessons, Chris and Liz developed a romantic interest in each other. Chris mistakenly thought that Liz was Amy's mother when she was actually her grandmother. Liz, embarrassed by her old age, lied that she was in fact Amy's mum.
