Chris Trenton was the father of Sam Trenton. When Liz McDonald took Amy Barlow to her music lessons at Jamila House, Chris and Liz developed a romantic interest in each other. Chris mistakenly thought that Liz was Amy's mother when she was actually her grandmother. Liz, embarrassed by her old age, had lied about the fact.
