Charles "Charlie" Lomax David Condou was born in Hammersmith, London on 8th January, 1973. He played Marcus Dent in Coronation Street between 2007 and 2014.

Initially joining the programme in the summer of 2007, he left the show in 2008 stating that "I have had a fantastic time in Coronation Street, but as a jobbing actor I believe it is the right time to move on." However, he returned to the role in March 2011 after an absence of almost three years and made his final appearance in July 2014.

Other TV and film credits include Exploits at West Poley, Robin of Sherwood, Frank Stubbs, Martin Chuzzlewit, Pie in the Sky, The Bill, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Peak Practice, The Girl in the Red Dress, Nathan Barley, Holby City and Casualty.

Condou is also a columnist for The Guardian newspaper on the subject of same-sex parenting, a gay rights activist and has two children born via IVF treatment; Georgia and Hal. In June 2015, he married his Canadian boyfriend of ten years, Cameron Laux. They live in Islington, London with their two children, who divide their time between them and their mother, Catherine Kanter.
