Cerberus being walked by Hope Stape
Cerberus, a brown and white greyhound was the pet dog of Evelyn Plummer. Having been widowed and losing her daughter who had moved away to South Africa and later died, Evelyn came into the possession of Cerberus who proved to be a loyal companion and great comfort to her through difficult times such as her sister Millie's terminal illness.
In March 2023, Cerberus ate an Eccles cake which Roy Cropper had dropped on the floor of his cafe, distracted by an online chess match on his phone. Suffering from food poisoning and then kidney failure, he was put down soon after with Evelyn by his side.
