Coronation Street Wiki

Yet another category page which has been created with no prior discussion. Four out of the five characters listed here are already included in [[Category:Speed Daal staff]]. Since the only "unique" entry here is Imran, this category is pretty much a duplicate of what is already established on the site. Karen2310 (talk) 22:30, October 18, 2019 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't think a discussion was needed unless it was a change from the norm (similar to how new family categories can be made without a discussion if there are four+ members). Also, I still need to remove Zeedan from the "Speed Daal staff" as like Imran he has only ever been the owner and not a member of staff. Xx-connor-xX (talk) 22:45, October 18, 2019 (UTC)
As before, if someone comes along and creates a category which is truly wrong and we quote the manual of style, they could counter with saying that no discussion had taken place on others created and we wouldn't have a leg to stand on. I'm pretty certain we've been over this ground before with you, and you know that. Please don't assume that your suggestions would be rejected. I see no issue with this latest category and would support it but we NEED the discussion to take place to retain editorial and content control, otherwise we have a free-for-all and the integrity of the site diminishes.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 12:24, October 21, 2019 (UTC)
I genuinely misread that part of the manual, and can't remember discussing this with anyone. I thought that, like with family categories, new business owners / staff categories could be created if there were 4+ members. Not to prove the above point about users countering that no discussion took place on other categories BUT I created a category for Trim Up North staff and another user created a category for Speed Daal staff without either being challenged - which strengthened my misunderstanding. I'd propose that the manual could be changed so that new business staff / owner categories are treated like the family categories (where 4+ members mean that the category can be created without prior discussion) which wouldn't include a "category which is truly wrong". Again I support your recommendation. Talk works well! Let's see what the others say.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 13:20, October 21, 2019 (UTC)
