Carol Kaye (born "Gladys Mayall" on 12th April 1930 in Oldham, died 20th August 2006 in Brighton) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1983 as Maureen Slater, a woman who Fred Gee met on a night out and who then used him financially before dumping him.
She was a member of The Kaye Sisters, a trio of singers who had several hits in the late-1950s and early-1960s.
Perhaps best remembered in the regular role of Miriam Ransome in soap opera Albion Market, her other credits included County Hall, Jury, Dramarama, The Bill, Heartbeat and Doctors.
On stage, she appeared in productions of A Bedfull of Foreigners and Outside Edge at the Civic Theatre, Chesterfield.
