Carl Armstrong was the abusive husband of Tricia Armstrong and father of Jamie.
Still not over Tricia, Carl tracked her down to Coronation Street where he attacked Jack Duckworth - believing he was Tricia's new partner. However, Jack was actually just babysitting Jamie while Tricia went on a date with Curly Watts. After the attack Carl was sent to Strangeways Jail and in September 1996, Tricia reluctantly told the Duckworths that Carl was being released. Tricia, who was now pregnant with Terry Duckworth's child, decided to visit Carl in prison in order to explain that she would allow him to see Jamie when he was released. After learning that Tricia was pregnant, Carl attacked her but was jumped on by the prison guards.
