Candice was an escort hired by businessman Rufus Donahue when he was visiting Weatherfield and staying at the Chariot Square Hotel. Before she arrived at his room, he suffered a heart attack while Stephen Reid was trying to talk him into signing a contract with Underworld, having been told to do so by Carla Barlow in exchange for 15% commission and a permanent contract with the firm. Desperate for the break after a financially catastrophic year for himself, Stephen was desperate to get Rufus's signature and willing to seemingly go to any lengths to achieve his aim. With Rufus carted off to Weatherfield General, Stephen was practicing forging Rufus's signature when Candice arrived.
She was not the least bit sympathetic to the news of her client's sudden illness, demanding payment instead from Stephen, and saying he could claim it off expenses as his business types usually did. To enforce the point, she began to ring Victor, her pimp, telling Stephen that he would end up in the same hospital as Rufus if he didn't comply. Stephen had a sudden idea and told Candice that they could both profit from the situation. He later turned up by Rufus's hospital bedside with his phone which contained a voice message from Candice together with an explicit photograph which Stephen threatened to send to Rufus's wife if he didn't sign the contract, charging the man £100 for Candice's fee into the bargain. Terrified of being exposed to his loving spouse, Rufus duly signed.
