Bryan Mosley (25th August, 1931 - 9th February, 1999) was born in Leeds and played Alf Roberts in Coronation Street intermittently in the 1960s, and then as a regular from February 1971 to  January 1999.

He served in the RAF, in Air Traffic Control, before training with the Esme Church Northern Theatre School from 1951 to 1953. Between his stints in Coronation Street he appeared in Get Carter where he was the recipient of the infamous line "You're a big man, but you're in bad shape".

Mosley also had a second career as a stunt arranger under the name "Buddy Windrush" and was a keen fencer. He was a founder member of the Society of British Fight Arrangers.

Mosley suffered a heart attack in 1991 after which his role in the show was reduced. He passed away less than six weeks after his character died on screen. Alf's trademark Trilby hat was placed on his coffin at his funeral.
