Brody Michaelis is the criminal son of Mick and Lou Michaelis who tormented Dylan Wilson while he was incarcerated at the Greenford Secure Training Centre.
Since his parents went to prison in 2025, he has tried to protect his younger siblings Joanie and Shanice while dealing with the discovery that Kit Green is his biological father.
Biography[]
Brody was the result of a fling between Lou Denham and Kit Green in 2008, when they were around fifteen years old. Lou cheated on her boyfriend Mick Michaelis while he was serving a custodial sentence at the Greenford Secure Training Centre, but Kit moved away without knowing about the pregnancy, and Lou told Mick that he was the father. Brody was born on 31st January 2009 and raised by Lou and Mick, never questioning who his parents were. His sisters, Joanie and Shanice, arrived later.
Brody had a troubled childhood, being in and out of the STC himself in addition to coping with epilepsy. He was inside in February 2025 when he met Dylan Wilson, who was serving a sentence for carrying a bladed article. As was apparently a common ruse of Brody's, he inveigled Dylan into being friends, taking the blame when they were caught with a joint before calling in the favour by demanding that Dylan's father Sean Tully smuggle a burner phone into the STC. Sean complied after Brody threatened Dylan, but when Brody also tried to extort £500 from him, Sean refused and reported Brody to the prison governor. Chastened, Brody turned to Mick, who beat Sean up for him. Brody planned to deal with Dylan, but when he taunted him by making homophobic comments about his dad, Dylan saw red and assaulted him. With their fellow inmates refusing to grass Dylan up, Brody left the lad alone thereafter.
Brody was released from the STC in May, moving into his family's new home at 12 Mawdsley Street, Weatherfield. Within days, he was caught stealing from the corner shop by assistant Bernie Winter, but DC Green let him off with it after he returned seemingly all of the items he'd nicked, failing to notice a bottle of booze he'd slipped into his pocket. When Brody chatted up Betsy Swain and bragged about getting one over on the police, Betsy reported him, leading to him spending a night in the cells.
While Brody was in custody, Mick was charged with the murder of PC Craig Tinker, who was fatally injured while arresting the elder Michaelis for drink driving. Brody believed that his dad had been stitched up and smashed up DC Green's flat in revenge, but he wasn't charged with the crime as Bernie mysteriously provided him with a false alibi. Brody's hatred of DC Green intensified when he found out from Lou that he'd had Mick beaten up in prison. He also needled DS Swain until she arrested him for harassing Daniel Osbourne, though after being placed in a cell his pleas for his epilepsy meds were ignored, resulting in Brody having a fit behind bars.
In June, Brody found out from Bernie that DC Green - Kit - had confirmed via a DNA test that he was his biological son, and by extension Bernie's grandson. He reacted badly to the news and refused to talk to Lou, spending his day drinking stolen booze. When Lou was charged for assaulting Gary Windass, Joanie and Shanice were taken in by Sally and Tim Metcalfe, with Brody agreeing to join them. Tim also helped the lad out by arranging with Carl Webster for him to be given some hours at Webster's Autocentre. Meanwhile, after a failed attempt to break out of prison, Mick told Brody that as he wasn't his son, he wanted nothing more to do with him. Brody was further hurt when Kit also rejected him, but accepted comfort from Bernie as he broke down. Father and son later bonded uneasily at a Weatherfield County FC match but a lunch with Kit's girlfriend Sarah Platt went wrong when Brody resented her unwanted advice.
Trouble continued to follow Brody in Coronation Street. When he turned up at Aadi Alahan's midsummer party at 7 Coronation Street with a bottle of LSD, he was thrown out but left the drug behind, resulting in Lauren Bolton accidentally drinking it and experiencing a psychotic episode. In July, Aadi roped Brody into helping him stage a robbery at the shop. Bernie found out about the deception but decided not to report them, not wanting to get her newly-found grandson into trouble. On Bernie's wedding day to Dev Alahan, Brody broke into No.7, needing money to abscond to Alicante with his sisters, but was caught by Bernie.
The Michaelises were dealt a double blow in August when Lou was sent down for four years for assaulting Gary and Joanie was separated from Shanice by social services after Joanie hurt her sister. Brody believed that he was the only one who could protect his sisters, and tried to steal a garage customer's car to raise money but was caught by Carl. Much to his surprise, Carl offered to work with him and split the profits. Brody's car-thieving efforts left much to be desired though as he and Dylan were caught breaking into one car by James Bailey and had to be rescued by Carl, and a vehicle they later abandoned was subsequently used in a hit-and-run against Tyrone Dobbs which caused him to suffer a spinal injury. Brody and Dylan were arrested when George reported seeing them driving the car, but they were let go when they were placed at the hospital at the time of the crash following Brody suffering another fit. Annoyed by his failures, Carl told Brody that he was more trouble than he was worth and cut ties with him.
