Brian Southwood (born 1948 in Bury) appeared on Coronation Street in three roles:
- Weatherfield General-based Dr. McLaren, who attended Alf Roberts, suffering a fractured skull after a timber lorry crashed into the front of the Rovers in March 1979
- The registrar who officiated at the marriage of Samir Rachid to Deirdre Barlow in November 1994, and who recorded the birth of Daniel Osbourne in January 1995
- The judge who presided over Terry Duckworth's Crown Court hearing in November 2001.
His other credits include roles in Crown Court, Get Lost!, Brookside, The Fourth Arm, Emmerdale, Truckers, The Forsyte Saga and voiced various characters in the children's animated series The Wind in the Willows. He also appeared in the TV movies Gaskin, Enemies of the State, Place of Safety, Lyddie, Hillsborough and In Denial of Murder.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Wanted - One Body!, Sell-Out, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Edward II and Oh What a Lovely War.
