Brian Baines (born "Herbert Brian Baines" on 23rd May 1931 in Bradford, died 28th June 2006 also in Bradford) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in November 1991 as the chairman of magistrates when Des Barnes appeared on a charge of polluting the waterways; and he returned to the programme in December 1995 as the vicar at St. Christopher's Church, officiating at the marriage of Norris Cole and Angela Hawthorne.

As well as a regular newsreader on the early evening Look North programme, he was one of the main continuity announcers for BBC North television during the 1970s and early 1980s.

His other credits included roles in Emmerdale, The Darling Buds of May, Stay Lucky, Faith, Last of the Summer Wine, Strange But True?, The Final Cut, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Cold Feet, Heartbeat and an uncredited role in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
