Botswana, officially the Republic of Botswana, is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa. With a population of just over 2 million people, it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. Formerly one of the poorest countries in the world, Botswana has since transformed itself into one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The economy is dominated by mining, cattle, and tourism.
In January 2019 Abi Franklin tried to hide her prison record from an interviewer at the Unit 7 call centre when she applied for a job by claiming the gaps in her CV were from travelling and hit on Botswana as a country she had explored in 2016, but came unstuck when the interviewer enthused that her sister had lived in that country for some time and attempted to chat to her about the place.
