Bob Hird (14th September 1936 in Aberdeen, died 1991) directed 39 episodes of Coronation Street from July 1965 to December 1966.

His main work in the latter half of that decade was as a staff director for Granada Television on series such as The Man in Room 17, The Fellows and Escape after which he went freelance and worked on Dr Finlay's Casebook for the BBC as well as programmes back at Granada including A Family at War and Crown Court. Other credits include Hadleigh, Wilde Alliance, Quest of Eagles, Emmerdale Farm, The Bill and High Road.
