Birmingham is a city in the West Midlands, England. With a population of approximately 1.1 million, it is the second largest city in both England and the United Kingdom as a whole (behind London).

In 1966, Ivan and Linda Cheveski moved to Birmingham with their children, Martin and Paul.
In December 1980, while Arnold Swain was in Birmingham on a business trip, his wife Emily received a visit from an insurance man regarding the insurance policy of Margaret Swain, Arnold's first wife, who he claimed was dead. Margaret was very much alive, exposing Arnold's marriage to Emily as bigamous. Emily reported Arnold to the police.
In March 2012, Dennis Tanner was offered a job at a DIY shop in Birmingham owned by an old friend of his. Dennis accepted and left Weatherfield, leaving his old flame Rita Sullivan devastated. However, Dennis changed his mind and returned, conscious of the support Rita had given him since he originally returned to the Street the previous May.
Tony Stewart moved to Birmingham in November 2015 to help a friend out on a building project. The following April, he was found dead in his flat.
