Betty Hardy (born 16th April 1904 in Lincoln, died 1st July 1981 in Chelsea, London) appeared on Coronation Street between July 1965 and April 1966 as Clara Midgeley, cleaner and temporary caretaker at the Mission of Glad Tidings.
She was also cast as Ada Hadfield in "The Trouble With Ada", a June 1965 episode of the programme's spin-off Pardon the Expression, along with a role in the untransmitted pilot of another proposed spin-off entitled Rest Assured in 1972.
Her other credits include The Bell Family, Villette, Probation Officer, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Katy, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Jane Eyre, Madame Bovary, The Mill on the Floss, North and South, Sinister Street, Cheri, Crown Court, Kizzy, Angels, Hazell and Kinvig.
On stage, she appeared in Royal Shakespeare Company productions of The Comedy of Errors, As You Like It, Richard III, Othello, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing and Coriolanus. Other works include Das Blaue vom Himmel, Down Our Street, The Anatomist, George and Margaret, People of Our Class, Watch on the Rhine, Uncle Vanya, Peer Gynt, Valmouth and Vieux Carré.
