Bethany Platt is the daughter of Sarah Platt and Neil Fernes. She is played by twins Amy and Emily Walton.

Sarah was just 13 when she gave birth to Bethany. Her dad Neil wanted nothing to do with her and became an "absent father". Moments after born, Alison Webster (who lost her baby Jake) kidnapped Bethany and threatened to kill herself. However Alison handed Bethany back over to her mother and ran in front of a truck (it wasnt known if this was an accident or on purpose).

When Bethany was two, Sarah nearly died in a car crash because of her boyfriend Aidan Crichly who was joyriding. She knew how much Bethany meant to her and decided to become more of a good mother.

Gail's husband Richard Hillman tied up and gagged Bethany along with David, Sarah and Gail and tried to kill them by driving into the canal. But they where rescued but Richard perished.

In 2003, her father Neil Fernes died in a road accident and Sarah took her to Neil's funeral. Neil's mother Brenda kidnapped Bethany and threatned to jump of the top of a church, so they can be rehunited with Neil. But Emily managed to stop her and talked her out of it. Brenda was last seen sobbing in the back of an ambulance.

In September 2007, David was meant to be looking after Bethany. He had hidden estasty tablets in her doll for his friend Darryll. But Bethany had taken one of them and David made her drink loads of salt water to bring the tablet back up. But Bethany became sick and was rushed into hospital. Sarah attacked David when he confessed what happened.

In December 2007, Sarah planned to move to Italy with new husband Jason Grimshaw and Bethany with her Uncle Steven. David was originally meant to go there, but Sarah planted drugs on him and he couldnt go. When she told Jason this, he was sickened and returned to coronation street and told Gail and David what Sarah had done. Sarah left for Italy with Bethany.

In July 2008, Gail went to visit them over in Italy. In June 2009, Audry and Gail are going over to visit them.

Bethany was originally going to be named Britney, after pop princess Britney Spears but her grandma Audrey was dead against the idea. Therefore she named her Bethany, and Britney was her middle name.

When Sarah returned home, Bethany wasn't feeling well and Sarah thought it was the gas leak at her school, which was why Bethany had come home early and David was looking after her. When Bethany started having fits, Sarah rushed her to hospital where doctors tried to stabilise her but couldn't, due to not knowing what she had eaten. David confessed that Bethany had swallowed an 'E', prompting Sarah to almost attack David. Bethany was sent to Intensive Care where she made a full recovery and came home on Sunday 23 September. Unfortunately the hospital had notified Social Services about the pill Bethany had taken. They were concerned enough to interview Sarah and discuss the possibility of Bethany going into care. As a result, Sarah told Gail that either David moved out or she and Bethany would. She was not prepared to allow David anywhere near her daughter again. Gail agreed that David was wrong and told him to move out. When Bethany was discharged from hospital, she was told that she could have her own room, as her uncle David had moved out.
-Sarah planned revenge on David for ruining her wedding day and found the perfect opportunity when Bethany's great uncle, Stephen, offered David a job in Milan. David accepted and Sarah was very envious. Therefore, Sarah planted ecstasy in his drawer at Audrey's Salon where Audrey found it. Stephen withdrew his offer to David after what happened to Bethany a couple of months earlier, and Gail couldn't believe he was still using drugs after the incident. Jason was offered the job and Bethany is to move to Italy with them.
-Whilst at the train station, Sarah admitted that she had planted the drugs. Jason was horrified and told Sarah to not get on the train. However, Sarah and Bethany got on the train and eventually left for Italy, without Jason.
