Bert Palmer

Bert Palmer (born 22nd April 1900 in Easingwold, Yorkshire as "Herbert Newell Palmer", died 15th January 1980 in Blackpool) played three parts on Coronation Street:

His other credits include Skyport, The Artful Dodger, The Avengers, No Hiding Place, The Plane Makers, Armchair Theatre, Dixon of Dock Green, Nearest and Dearest, Please Sir!, The Morecambe & Wise Show, Follyfoot, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, I Didn't Know You Cared, Emmerdale Farm, Z Cars and the first episode of the Leonard Swindley spin-off Turn out the Lights in 1967.

Under the name of Newell Palmer, he was also a theatrical designer and worked with Arthur Leslie in a production of his play Welcome Little Stranger for the Jack Rose Repertory Players in Blackpool in 1957.

Bert was married to Coronation Street actress Lynne Carol (Martha Longhurst) for forty-six years.
