Bernard Padden (born December 1956 in Manchester) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1972 as Phil Banks, a young member of the Weatherfield sea cadets in attendance at the Community Centre where Jerry Booth asked for advice on sailing.
His other credits include roles in The Dustbinmen, Nightingale's Boys, How We Used to Live, Emmerdale Farm, Doctor Who, Dempsey and Makepeace, Valentine Park, As Time Goes By, Grange Hill and The Dark Room.
Encouraged by the positive reaction to a one-man comedy show he wrote in the 1980s, he moved into writing and in 2003, he was accepted on to the scripting team for the BBC soap Doctors, for which he contributed episodes until 2019.
