Bailiff (Episodes 11172/3)

The Bailiff and his colleague, employed by Weatherfield Debt Enforcement, called at 3 Coronation Street in January 2024 to collect the sum of £5,831 from Ed Bailey following the granting of a court order after Ed ignored the demands for payment. He had accrued the sum over several months when he had resumed his gambling habit, losing heavily in the process and borrowing on credit cards. Ed thought he was already at his lowest ebb when the bailiffs called and, desperate to stop them taking any goods from his house, offered them the tools of his building trade which were stored in his nearby yard. Soon afterwards, a fire began accidentally in the near-empty premises and Ed was able to inflate an insurance claim to resupply himself with some of the repossessed items.
