Avis Bunnage (born "Mildred Avis Bunnage" on 22nd April 1923 in Ardwick, Manchester, died 4th October 1990 in Thorpe Bay, Essex) played two roles on Coronation Street: firstly as Harry Hewitt's sister Alice Burgess, appearing between March and May 1961; and she returned to the programme in November 1976 as Supper Bar assistant Edie Blundell.

In addition she appeared in an episode of the Street spin-off Pardon the Expression in 1966.

She previously worked as both a secretary and nursery teacher before embarking on an acting career with a CV spanning from the 1940s to the 1990s. Television credits include roles in Probation Officer, Gideon's Way, Emergency-Ward 10, Sergeant Cork, Softly Softly: Task Force, Z Cars, Crown Court, Rising Damp, In Loving Memory, The Spoils of War, The Gentle Touch, Albion Market and Inspector Morse.

Amongst her long list of film credits are parts in Expresso Bongo, Sparrows Can't Sing, Tom Jones, The Wrong Box, Ghandi, Forbidden, No Surrender and The Krays. She also appeared in The L-Shaped Room, a 1962 film that Patricia Phoenix was allowed to make in a break from her duties on the Street as Elsie Tanner.

Stage productions include roles in Macbeth, A Taste of Honey, Ned Kelly, They Might Be Giants, Oh, What a Lovely War!, Fiddler on the Roof, The Rivals and Billy.
